Apr 13th 2011 7:30AM I'd like to see an absence of food trends!

Four Unusual Kitchen Staples - Tip of the Day (Slashfood)
Apr 1st 2010 5:56PM Not in my kitchen! While I have sriracha and grainy mustard, I don't consider them staples.

Beet Hummus - Feast Your Eyes (Slashfood)
Mar 25th 2010 5:15PM If you peel the beets before you roast them staining isn't nearly as much of an issue.

In Defense of Rachael Ray (Slashfood)
Dec 31st 2009 9:41AM I have two problems with Rachael Ray: 1. She's everywhere. Too much growth too quickly and too spread out. But it's the same with other celebrity chefs. She's just more visible than many.
2. The recipes. It's not that they're too low-brow. My problem is with the portions -- especially meat. Supposedly most recipes serve 4. I cut them in half, feed 3 adults and still have leftovers. -

'The Pioneer Woman Cooks' - Cookbook Spotlight (Slashfood)
Dec 14th 2009 7:26AM The meatballs were a big hit here; the sauce, not so much. Though the recipes in the book are fine, I prefer the website because all the non-food related content is separate from the recipes.

Martha Stewart Weighs In on Rachael Ray (Slashfood)
Nov 20th 2009 7:30AM I'm not particularly fond of either one of them, but both have some decent quick recipes (Martha in Everyday Food), I think the recipes in Everyday Food are simpler than 30 Minute Meals.

Picky Eaters and Vegans - The Hungry Bride (Slashfood)
Jun 7th 2009 8:09AM I don't think it's your responsibility to make sure that there's food that will accomodate everyone. The picky eaters and the vegans choose to eat (or not eat, as the case may be) as they do. I tend to agree with Michael Pollan on this one: "On this matter I'm inclined to agree with the French, who gaze up on any personal dietary prohibition as bad manners."

Exclusive - Dunkin' Donuts Brings Back Vanilla Bean Coolatta (Slashfood)
Jun 4th 2009 9:03AM I hadn't been to a Dunkin' Donuts for years until recently. I was shocked to realize that my local grocery has donuts that are far superior to theirs and cheaper, though not as large a variety. I do like the Coolattas, though.
