  • A Message From the AOL.com Team (Portalblog)

Dec 21st 2012 3:15PM I am continuing to be amazed, in a ghastly way, at the misdirection created by those ignorant enough to believe their is an easy answer to a complicated question. Americans seem almost unique in this trait. I will leave the two most partisan sides out of this (NRS vs Ban The Guns) . I ask you to consider some basic truths.

    1) As long as we have the right of privacy in our homes, the government cannot ban squat.

    2) Gun Laws mean nothing to criminals and crazy people. (Chicago alreay has most restrictive gun laws in the USA, yet gun violence is pandemic there. Illinois is the ONLY state without some form of "Right to Carry" law. Yet, gun violence continues.

    3) None of these incidents, tragedies, massacres have been commited by a member of the NRA. Maybe we should put THEM rather than the FBI in charge of gun purchases !!

    4) Just like Prohibition, and the War on Drugs, and other Federal efforts, banning guns of any kind will only adversely affect the lawful citizens. Criminals and crazy people will still run amok. BUT, we will have created a new Blalck Market item from which we will get NO REVENUE but will spend huge amounts TRYING to enforce.

    5) What we have is a cultural problem wherein our youths spend too much time indoors on computers playing games in which the goal to win is to KILL as many "people" as possible. If that is not a formula for a bad outcome, then tell me what is.

Bottom line: Gun laws will not work in a free country in which our rights are defined in a Constitution.

  • Has Jennifer Aniston Finally Found the Perfect Man? (PopEater)

Jun 3rd 2011 11:05PM You're a woman, right ? And you don't get it ? This means you don't understand MEN at all ! Jen is cute and perky and looks like fun to be with. A better body than most men see in 10 years on women half her age. A sly smile that hides ......what ? Pain, anguish, or lust. In any case, all things that men think they can "Fix". Looks vulnerable, has been dumped on by a hick from Springfield MO (near Branson) who is dazzled by a witch of some kind.

Get past the acting. Men don't find women attractive based upon the roles they take. They choose women who would make them cry and who they could make scream.

  • 'Manning Up' by Kay Hymowitz: Has the Rise of Women Turned Men Into Boys? (MyDaily)

Mar 19th 2011 12:30PM This is, unfortunately largely true. When men allowed the "womens' movement" to go forward unchallenged for so long, they lost any importance in the gender difference.

Men need women to enforce their egos, provide sexual release and bring up children that men want and need as much as women, as proof of manhood and to pass our greate genes onto.

The unintended outcome for men has been, A) Male bonding to the extent that homosexuality is out of control rather than deal with the aggravation of seduction of women, B) Intense competiton for jobs that were formerly predominantly male ( pro football will be next). C) An intense loss of confidence in themselves as different AND dominant. We have become a league of wusses !

But, the female side has also suffered. Men no longer marry for a lifetime "no matter what" and both men and women end up in "serial marriages". Women may rule, but if what you rule is worthless, you are the boss over "nothing".

So, welcome to the land of stress, heart disease, lung cancer and substance abuse. I can hardly wait to see (oh, nevermind, I won't be here ) to see what the children born today identify with and how their personalities are formed by computers and "day care supervisors'.

  • Jamie Oliver Calls Sarah Palin a "Froot Loop" (That's Fit)

Mar 5th 2011 9:33AM The problem is the GOVERNMENT getting involved in every aspect of our lives. Healthy eating is a worthy goal give the HUGE number of people who are grossly obese (Where do they find the time between eating and using toilet paper to do anything else >?)

But, every first lady has to have a cause. Doesn't anyone remember Lady Bird Johnson and her "Beautify America" campaign to eliminate highway billboards? (Now we get to see the mobil home parks behind the signs)

Laura Bush wanted everyone to be more literate and read. They all had something, but I can't even remember anything catching on except one caused not by a First Lady but a Senator and wife of a Presidential candidate ( Elizabeth Dole) which resulted in the "Libby Lights" --that extra red light in the rear windown of your car. She believed Americans were too stupid to realize the car in front was putting on the brakes when the tail lights lit up brightly. Ugh !

  • Winged Migration (MyDaily)

Feb 27th 2011 12:12PM What a shame and missed opportunity to teach childred about biology and wildlife.

Canada geese mate for life (ususual among wildlife) produce goslings every spring. The Gander is fiercely watchful and protective of his mate and goslings. They never are far from water and, I suspect, are attracted to the playground by food (grasses).

But if they children were not playing games all the time, they could learn about mating and the beauty of this animal and how they survive. I can assure you that they have an natural instinct to be "in the water" most of the time and out only to feed. You can't even allow them that? Teach the children about nature and conservation by teaching them how to pick up and dispose or recycle the the waste.

  • Women Willing to Give Up Sex, Cell Phones, Days Off for a Sharp-Dressed Man (MyDaily)

Feb 18th 2011 11:20AM Yes it is stupid. BUT SO IS 90% OF THE CONTENT OF THE NET, ESPECIALLY BLOGS which can be and are written by people that don't know what they are talking about.

Any young person, -40 has not nearly enough experience to discuss fashion trends, moral behavior, attractiveness between male and female, money handling, driving a car well etc.

So if you don't want to put up with total BS. Just do go for the hook in the headline that makes you even think you want to make a comment. I like to read the "stupid" replies because it re-enforces this opinion about nine out of ten times.

  • Women Willing to Give Up Sex, Cell Phones, Days Off for a Sharp-Dressed Man (MyDaily)

Feb 18th 2011 11:13AM Nope, not a Michigan thing, although Bob Seger is a good example. Men are "Hardwired" to try to procreate (birth control is fairly recent ) as they have been for 10,000 years +. They have no control over the "desire" . Civilization has demanded we "control" our actions but not our thoughts (yet). Its universal. Period.

The best (and funniest) example is Billy Crystal's explation on a road trip with Meg Ryan in the movie "When Harry Met Sally"
