Delivery Man Publicly Shames Bad Tippers On Blog (Slashfood)
May 5th 2011 9:54AM Maybe the original Slashfood bloggers can get the name back and do a "real" blog again. This Slashfood relies too much on republished content. I miss the recipes.

Americans Confused by Red Wine, Sea Salt (Slashfood)
Apr 27th 2011 8:48AM Halid crystals are naturally white. How can they be bleached? You can't wash salt. This is misinformation.

Walmart Testing Online Grocery Service (Slashfood)
Apr 26th 2011 8:12AM Almost no US supermarkets chains do home delivery. A few independent stores do. But with the size of the aging Baby Boom population, I think Walmart is on to something. My mother-in-law would benefit from having her groceries delivered, but unfortunately she is from a pre-Internet generation and has never shown any interest in a computer. Walmart should investigate a phone-in service.

Gastrocrats: Are the Food Elite Spoiling it For the Rest of Us? (Slashfood)
Apr 22nd 2011 8:19AM I don't know anybody like this. So a few people like to throw their money away on fancy food. Conspicuous consumption has been going on for hundreds of years. Just because some guy makes up a new word for it doesn't make it interesting or make it news. You can do better than this, Slashfood.

Is Roadkill Safe to Eat? (Slashfood)
Apr 20th 2011 8:40AM My grandmother used to run out into the road when a pheasant would get hit by a car. She sad they were good eating.

Vegan Magazine's Faux-Meat Recipe Photos Actually Real Meat (Slashfood)
Apr 15th 2011 9:12AM Why hypocrites! How difficult can it be to actually MAKE the recipe they are promoting and then take a digital picture? There are a million food bloggers out there who do that every day. VegNews deserves to fail as an enterprise if they can't be bothered to do that much.

Some Food Addictions as Powerful as Drugs (Slashfood)
Apr 6th 2011 9:03AM "...something that more resembles Alcoholics Anonymous." I suggest Overeaters Anonymous. However,in general the 12-step approach works better for men than for women.
Personally I think "addiction" is too strong a word for food cravings. The reason we get pleasure from fatty foods is that our bodies still think we're living in caves during the Ice Age. Eating fatty foods was a survival mechanism for our distant ancestors. Our brains just haven't evolved past that point. Okay, so I want to eat fatty foods. But I'm a thinking adult. Food is a choice. Nobody forces me to eat that icecream. -
Sbarro to File for Bankruptcy (Slashfood)
Apr 4th 2011 8:12AM Sbarro was the first food place in our local mall, even before the idea of the food court came along. Unfortunately they hitched their wagon to mall traffic and didn't innovate when the Internet changed shopping habits. They also didn't come up with healthy options when America's food habits changed.

New Chemical "Bitter Blocker" Makes Foods Taste Sweeter (Slashfood)
Mar 31st 2011 8:53AM You're totally missing the point. You can't add this to fresh produce. It's going to be used to sweeten produce that's processed (canned or frozen). Just wash your fresh fruits and veggies if you are worried. I recommend you go to a doctor for your symptoms instead of blaming food additives. Sounds like you might be allergic to something (maybe gluten?).

Mexican Veggie Burgers: Recipe of the Day (Slashfood)
Mar 21st 2011 10:15AM You obviously didn't read the recipe to see that the major ingredient in these burgers is beans, which are almost pure protein plus excellent fiber. Those starchy veggies you are so down on contribute important vitamins and minerals to the burger. There are carbs in taco seasoning? Really? On what planet? If you got off your "carbs are bad" high horse and did some research you'd find out that a balanced diet including some vegetable sources for protein is much healthier for you than that wad of ground beef. (And no, I'm not a vegetarian.)
