  • The Cleverest Coffee Maker (Slashfood)

Feb 23rd 2010 7:35PM No thanks. I like a bit of sediment at the bottom of the cup. It's why I brew my coffee with a French Press.

  • QuĂ© Es Queso and Why Are Texans So Enamored With it? (Slashfood)

Sep 2nd 2009 4:46PM I don't think of that as Texan. Such a dish made regular appearances at my home when Mom hosted parties. I think the recipe came off of a Velveeta package. (I'm from the Pacific Northwest)

  • Not-So-Simple Mac & Cheese - Feast Your Eyes (Slashfood)

Sep 1st 2009 11:35AM I have been noticing a trend towards gourmet versions of Mac'n'cheese at upscale places. It's amazing what can be done to a simple comfort food to make it so scrumptious. And I'm sure that the low food cost, even for gourmet recipes makes it highly profitable for restaurateurs. I'm particularly fond of the Mac'n'Cheese at a place we have here in Berkeley, CA called the T-Rex.

  • 'Authentic' Brie 101 - Le Cheese Course (Slashfood)

Aug 25th 2009 4:00PM I love what my brother likes to refer to as "snooty cheese" but sadly, no matter how many times I've tried I've never been able to enjoy the rind. Some will say that I don't know what I'm missing, but I know exactly what I'm missing and I don't like it one bit.

  • Tweak Today Asks: What Food Do You Hate That Everyone Else Loves? (Slashfood)

Aug 18th 2009 5:56PM Capers. I don't understand why people like them much less consider them edible.

  • Newspaper charges more than double for news online vs. home delivery (WalletPop)

Jun 8th 2009 3:55PM This is a perfect example of the business savvy that got the newspaper industry on the endangered species list.

  • French Press Tips from the CoffeeMeister (Slashfood)

May 14th 2009 4:44PM It is beyond annoying that you would tell us to chuck our grinders and drop $100 on a burr grinder. Rather than just suggesting that we "trust you" how about adding a sentence or two explaining why that step is necessary. You come across as snobby and condescending. I have no problem being snobby when it comes to coffee, but I try to avoid the condescending part. It doesn't go well with any outfit no matter what the season or occasion.

  • When Should You Eat the Rind? - Cheese Course (Slashfood)

Apr 22nd 2009 11:46AM I love the comparison to eating cake and not eating the frosting. That's exactly what I do because I don't like frosting. Same thing with brie, I eat the cheese because I like it and avoid the rind because it tastes horrible in my opinion.

  • Objectionable ingredients (Slashfood)

    Aug 31st 2007 9:41PM Milk.

Mom & Dad never forced me to eat anything, only asked that I try everything. Well, that rule applied to everything except for milk apparently. Just the thought of drinking it makes me queasy. Funny thing is I love soy milk.
