Punching down the grapes

A bin of fermenting Alicante Bouchet grapes is hand-punched down at Four Vines Winery in Paso Robles, CA. Punching the skins into the juice helps give the wine more color from the grapeskins; hand-punching is gentler than using a machine or tools.
