Creepy breakfast pic of the day

OK, this is just plain freaky. When I sit down to eat a meal, I don't want to see its eyes. It reminds me of that Nightmare on Elm Street movie where Freddy Krueger's body had all those writhing faces of his victims. In this pic, all I can think about is the little cereal pieces screaming "help us!" in a high pitched voice.

Though I can imagine the pancakes singing and dancing in an animated Disney movie.

Photo of the Day: Broccoli and Potato soup

Today's Photo of the Day is perfectly timed for National Soup Month (with all these soup posts, you'd think I have soup on the brain or something). Prepared and photographed by Maggiejumps (you can find her blog here), the recipe comes from Veganomicon. In the note under the image on Flickr, she comments that there was some worry in her household about a broccoli soup that wasn't creamy or enriched with some dairy but that they shouldn't have fretted, the soup was wonderful.

Today's featured photo comes to us from Tiny Morsels and is of a series of nicely plated Power Ball Snacks. The recipe originally comes from Heidi Swanson's Super Natural Cooking (Heidi is one of my very favorite food bloggers) and Tiny Morsels has adapted it slightly to ensure that it is gluten free.

Thanks to everyone who has joined the Slashfood Flickr group recently and has been adding pictures to our pool. I also loved seeing all the pictures of your favorite kitchen things. Keep them coming!
