Do you have a personal blog? No -- but I do have a Twitter account. Does that count? It is, technically speaking, "micro-blogging."...
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not blogging? I am the summer food intern at AOL Food until the end of August, and happy to report I will be continuing my stay with the AOL Food team as a full-time contractor thereafter.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? My first post was in June about a Washington hotel keeping honeybees on their roof -- those types of stories are always fun because I get to incorporate as many "bee" and "buzz" puns as possible. As far as favorites go, I really enjoy conjuring up my "Table for One" series -- partly because I have a delicious meal waiting for me at the end, and partly because cooking for one is a niche that I feel is often left unnoticed in many cooking publications.
Each week, we round up the top food articles we've spied Web-wide. This week, a special edition of our own bloggers' primo pieces from elsewhere on the Web.
When new bloggers join the Slashfood team, we like to make sure they get a proper introduction to our readers. Meet the latest addition to our team, assistant editor Alexa Weibel. Do you have a personal blog? Not quite yet: I'm trying to narrow down my focus, whether it be cooking, food photography, or restaurant notes. Until then, I post my food photos as Facebook updates, much to the chagrin of my disinterested non-foodie friends.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging? I'm an editorial assistant at Saveur magazine and freelance writer for Venus Zine.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what's your favorite post? I just started last week, and my first post is a review of a guacamole cookbook. The book itself was disappointing -- comically so -- but it did make me realize that bacon can be, surprisingly, an amazing guacamole ingredient.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
I write about food for other publications like Time Out New York, Gourmet and Metromix. I've also written for places including The New York Times, Interior Design, ELLE, New York Magazine and Salon. And I was a baker in a past life before attending the French Culinary Institute for formal training. How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post?
Less than a month. If we're talking about a favorite post that I've written, I'm partial to my post about cooking an ostrich egg.
When new bloggers join the Slashfood team, we like to make sure they get a proper introduction to our readers. Meet the latest addition to our team, blog editor Alex Van Buren.
Do you have a personal blog?
Yes. It's where I post recent articles and scribble about various New York City food discoveries.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
Meet Slashfood's newest blogger, Jennifer Iserloh, a.k.a. The Skinny Chef. Twice a week, Chef Iserloh will be sharing smart, savory ways to make your favorite dishes healthier, without sacrificing flavor.
I was raised in a small town outside of Pittsburgh in my Granny's little brick house, complete with a large dine-in kitchen. Granny is an amazing cook and almost all our meals were from scratch. She began passing all her knowledge and cooking traditions on to me when I was tall enough to reach the counter. Cooking became an integral part of my life, but overeating and serious weight issues were another, unfortunate part of my family's heritage.
As I grew older, I steadily gained weight from my teen years into my early 20s. I felt a real dissatisfaction with the way I looked, and more importantly, being overweight really hurt my self-confidence. I knew that I had to make changes, and I began to learn about nutrition - mimicking my slender female friends' healthy habits. I started to lose weight, but I never lost my love for food.
After I moved to New York City, I finally had the courage to follow my dream to become a chef and truly honor my passion. After graduating, I studied with the masters of New York City restaurants. As my professional scope widened, I experienced food on many levels, working as a private chef, learning how to style foods for photo shoots, and starting a career in food writing. To this day, I combine my best experiences from the food world into delicious, healthy food that is also beautiful.
In the last year and a half, Slashfood has been an integral part of my life. Over that time, I've written nearly half a million words, posted countless recipes and taken so many pictures of my food that I had to get a larger harddrive installed in my computer in order to store them all. It has been a delight to have the opportunity to write for and interact with the amazing community of readers and writers that come to this space everyday. However, the time has come for me to move on and so today is my last day as a Slashfoodie.
Thank you to all of you who came here, read my posts, cooked my recipes and kept me on the grammatical straight and narrow. You made it all so worthwhile. I also want to thank the amazing team of writers with whom I had the opportunity to work with, I feel so fortunate to have worked with so many talented, passionate foodies.
For those of you who are interested in what's next for me, I will continue to make noise on these here interwebs. I'm going to be blogging about local foods, canning, pickling, jam making, food preservation and the occasional cookbook at Food in Jars. Scott and I will continue to make food in front of a camera for your amusement on Fork You. I'm still writing Apartment 2024, the blog that started it all. And finally, if that's not enough, you're welcome to follow me on Twitter.

Now meet the latest addition to our team, Amy McDaniel. Do you have a personal blog? That's kind of personal question. And, no.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging? I do some freelance writing for Saveur, and I'm working on my first book. Somewhat more profitably, I teach English at a small liberal arts college. Hmm, I wonder if my students ever google me. Should I censor myself on Slashfood?
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? This is my third or fourth post. My favorite so far is the one that mentions Alice B. Toklas because someone referred to her recipe for Hashish Brownies in the comments this one (upon reflection).
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies? I co-host a poetry and fiction reading series in Atlanta with an impolite name.
Not every foodie does, so we have to ask: Do you cook? Why yes. Earlier this week I made dinner for one: roasted halibut with shitake-miso broth and udon noodles. When I entertain, I either go all out, which usually involves charcuterie, or for something more casual I stick to my grandmother's southern recipes.
What is your most prized utensil/gadget in the kitchen? A wooden spoon that belonged to my great-grandmother.

Do you have a personal blog? Yes, it's called Everyday Wine, though I don't post over there nearly as often now that I'm blogging at Slashfood.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging? I'm a freelance writer specializing in wine, food, home, and garden. I write a lot of wine stories from food and wine pairings and recipe development to "green" wine, the latest and greatest trend. I also write gardening stories and home features. Most of my work is published in magazines and online, and I do the occasional corporate job.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? I started with Slashfood in September. My very first post was about amazon.com offering wine, and it got a lot of comments, so I was buoyed by the great Slashfood readers who care about shipping laws as much as I do.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
I'm a writer and a homekeeper.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post?
I just started with Slashfood but I've written a couple of pieces for AOL Food. I still get email from a piece I wrote last autumn about cafeterias, that wound up also being about my grandmother. I guess that, to me, they're linked.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies?
I love classic films, especially women's pictures from the golden era of Hollywood, 50's melodramas, 30's musicals, exploitation flicks and midnight movies, the French New Wave, and silents. I also love contemporary art and I follow that scene. And I love books, especially Beat literature and anything related to the Beat literary movement.
When new bloggers join the Slashfood team, we like to make sure they get a proper introduction to our readers. You've met Annie Scott,Monika Bartyzel, Stefani Pollack and Alanna Kaufman. Now meet the latest addition to our team, Mike Pomranz. Do you have a personal blog?
A friend once told me: "You need to post a website or something. How the hell am I supposed to know what you're up to?" She was kidding. I have serious problems.
For the election season, you can read my Election '08 comedy blog, Slander '08. Coming soon, I'm launching Wiijuvenated to deal with my Wii addiction. You can also often find me blogging on behalf of my rock band here or my musical comedy duo here. And if you're a fan of blogs that haven't been updated in years, feel free to look here, here, here and, uh, even here. (Please note, many of these blogs are not safe for work or for society in general.) Maybe one day I'll stick with a blog for more than two months at a time. What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
As a writer, comedian and musician, I spend a lot of time on the couch.
Do you have a personal blog? I barely have a personal life. What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging? I'm an actress and a playwright in NYC. How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? I've only been with Slashfood about a week. I love it here! My favorite post so far is...this one.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies? Euphemisms, marine archaeology, esoterica, accidental rhyming, dresses, rating things on a scale of 1-10, chocolate, Sondheim, anomalies, trinomials, analogies, Egyptology, lighthearted verbal abuse, comparing and contrasting things, laughing till my face hurts a lot, singing with friends, and making all kinds of art.
Do you have a personal blog? Yes, I do. It's Movingatthespeedoflife.blogspot.com. Longest URL ever! I've been meaning to change it for a long time. I get carpal tunnel symptoms every time I type that thing in. What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not drink blogging? I bartend at Union restaurant in Seattle. Ethan Stowell, the chef and owner, has recently been nominated for a James Beard award (Best NW Chef) and was named among the ten best new chefs of 2008 by Food and Wine magazine. It's an exciting time to be at the restaurant, that's for sure. He gives me freedom behind the bar, so I'm doing my best to offer cocktails that can stand up to all the hard work the kitchen guys are doing. So many restaurants/bartenders just mail it in when it comes to cocktail programs. I want Union to be different. How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? Been here since February, I think. Prior to that I blogged for AOL Drinks. My favorite post is the recent Mint Julep post, mostly because of all the beautiful quotes I pulled and that video link brings a tear to this old bartender's eye.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies? Hobbies? Who has time for hobbies? Does reading count? Does going out on the town?
Do you have a personal blog? Yes, I maintain two main blogs, FOFIO! which is my personal blog, and The Eaten Path, which is where I post my food-related writing. Also a freeware blog and one for my late brother Paul. My daughter Amy does most of the photography for my posts. You can see her work here.
What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging? I am a techie. I work as a senior desktop support tech for AOL in the East Village of Manhattan.
How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post? I started two months ago, with two posts I wrote on wild edibles. My favorite so far, was Sarah Gim's very honest and accurate writeup on the scary Banquet Salisbury Steak Dinner. My kids and I repeatedly joke about TV-dinner style meals. The ones with deserts are even worse since you always end up with a corn brownie or pudding fries.
Do you have any non-food-related, non-blogging hobbies? Hiking, music, and all things technical.
When new bloggers join the Slashfood team, we like to make sure they get a proper introduction to our readers. However, sometimes we miss the boat and a blogger flies under the radar, writing for many months without an introduction. Kat Kinsman, the senior editor of AOL Food has been blogging for us some time and we're finally getting around to giving her a proper introduction. Please give her a nice welcome! -- Marisa McClellan Do you have a personal blog?
Yes, I do, and it resulted in my being investigated by the Secret Service -- who originally didn't realize that it was a political satire and believed that I really, truly did yearn to spend my days and nights in a vat full of pudding with Karl Rove. I hear he is an amazing chef, though. I also maintain a Twitter. What is your day job, or rather, what do you do when you're not food blogging?
I'm the senior editor of AOL Food, and I loooove taking my work home with me. How long have you been blogging with Slashfood and what is your favorite post?
I had been blogging at AOLfoodblog.com for rather a while when we merged with Slashfood, so if we count that, it's a bit over a year. My favorite post was one where I talked about how my husband Douglas and I surprised our parents by getting some of our most favorite recipes from each side of our new family and having our caterers/friends serve them at our wedding reception. I posted my Dad's Hungarian goulash and Douglas' Mom & Grandmother's chicken and dumplings recipes along with the story. There was just such a warm, wonderful response in the comments, and it was a treat to share this with our families.
What I didn't anticipate, though, was a commenter who took the time out to tell me how very tacky it was of us to serve such common food, and that we should have used the occasion to serve "special" "fancy" food to our guests. I wrote back to her to say that it actually was incredibly special food to us, and that we loved sharing these parts of our lives with our guests, but she just got even nastier in her response. Ah well. That's the internet for ya.
