But forget soda: Kraft's decided to substitute boxed mac & cheese for their new "Mac & Jinx" Twitter campaign. According to Mashable, Kraft has developed a new game to get the phrase "mac & cheese" trending on the social networking site. It works like this: Any time two people use "mac & cheese" in a tweet, they each get a link to Mac & Jinx. The first one to click the link gets five free boxes of Kraft's mac & cheese, plus a T shirt. The promo is from the hyper-creative ad firm of Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the agency behind Burger King's Facebook campaign (delete 10 friends and get a free Whopper) and Microsoft's Laptop ("I'm just not cool enough to be a Mac person.") spots. Last month, we wrote about a Chicago-based chocolatier, truffle truffle, and their unusual new item: beer marshmallows. Based on the flood of comments we got on the post, Facebook and Twitter it was clear that readers were hooked.

So when we heard that founder and owner Nicole Greene was giving these addictive sweets a twist for St. Patrick's Day, we had to get our hands on some. Dipped in milk chocolate and topped with crunchy bits of a sweet, salty beer-and-pretzel brittle, the green marshmallows become "green beer o'mallows" -- same great taste, but with a little more St. Patty's Day spirit.

How do you know if the economy is already on the upswing for 2011? Forget retail sales. Take a look at the Truffle Meter. And, baby, it's on its way up, up, and away. First, renowned pastry chef François Payard has created a Black Truffle Chocolate Tart for New Year's Eve that serves eight and retails for $85 (only 25 of the limited-edition confections are available through his FPB bakery in Soho, though. Meanwhile, in L.A, you can sign up for Patina Restaurant's Truffle Dinner Series (Wednesday and Thursday, January 11 and 12), in order to be the first on the West Coast to sample the season's finest black truffles just flown in from France, the truffle and pâté capital of the world. Depending on how flush you're feeling about next year, go for seven courses at $175, five courses at $135, or a mere three at the reasonable price of $95 (recommended for anyone whose year-end bonus didn't come through). But wait! Even if you're being evicted as you read this, you can still enter Patina's contest to win a dinner for two to the January 11 event. No word yet on whether Mildred's restaurant in Pasadena is shaving truffles over the pot roast this year, but we do hear that they're giving out free autographed pix of Eve Arden with the purchase of a bowl of cream-of-mushroom soup.

Last week, Slashfood headed down to Nashville for a behind-the-scenes look at CMT's Artists of the Year celebration and dinner. On top of flying in three James Beard Award-winning chefs to make an unforgettable three-course meal, CMT asked chocolatier Bethany Thouin, owner of Nashville's The Cocoa Tree to come up with a custom chocolate truffle for each of the honorees: Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, and Jason Aldean.

Each truffle was created with the artist in mind, and Bethany took inspiration from the musicians' songs and their hometowns. She felt that Taylor Swift, for example, exemplified a fairy tale. Her truffle was made from white-chocolate-cheesecake ganache with a swirl of dark chocolate and graham crackers, dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with homemade graham crackers.

Now, Taylor's truffle can also be yours. Bethany was kind enough to share several boxes of those delectable truffles with us so we can share them with our readers.

We got our hands on several bottles of Tru Blood last year and decided to kick it up a notch with Dutch Kills bartender Giuseppe Gonzalez's bloody good cocktails. If you don't have any Tru Blood around the house, try making one of these great cocktails or smoothies in honor of the show: Raspberry Spritzer, Cherry-Berry Smoothie or a famous Bloody Mary.

To celebrate the worldwide launch of KFC's new tagline, "So Good," the fast food chain is giving away free chicken in at least 50 restaurants across all 50 states. But before you start smacking your lips in anticipation you have to do some social networking.

Go onto one of KFC's social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or, if you're old school, e-mail sogood@kfc.com, and nominate your hometown by telling the chicken purveyors why your community is "so good."

KFC will judge the submissions and at least one KFC restaurant in each state will offer poultry devotees free $5 Big Crunch Boxes on June 17.

The winning restaurants will be announced on June 14. So start thinking about why your community is so finger lickin' good.
