KFC's Free Sandwich Stunt

Photo: YouTube

Two weeks ago, Chick-fil-A gave customers the chance to earn a free combo meal by coming in to their stores dressed in cow costumes. (In case you missed it, our editor donned spots to cash in on this deal.) Yesterday, KFC took a stab at this sort of publicity stunt (what, KFC, you haven't had enough press from the Double Down?) by offering the first ten people dressed in a competing chain's uniform a free Doublicious sandwich.

They even resurfaced a Colonel look-alike in a promotional video to encourage fast food employees to come get their sandwiches (in it, a McDonald's worker trades out his McD's hat for one bearing the KFC logo).

If that young man (or any competing uniform-wearers) lost his or her job on account of the free meal, KFC promised to welcome them into their arms of employment. Head over to Eater to see the promo video.

One Restaurant to Go, Please

Photo: Muvbox

Is it your dream to become a restaurateur? Or to travel the world? Now you can fulfill both wishes thanks to Muvbox, a "partially-solar-powered, 12,000-pound shipping container that transforms into a restaurant with seating areas shaded by large awnings." The Transformer-like concept boxes are made to order, so any restless chef could give their eatery a go on one continent, and then ship it across the world and start anew.

Head over to Eater to read more about the Muvbox, and see a video of its amazing assembly.

The Difference Between Vanilla and French Vanilla

Photo: Getty Images

With the recent announcement of Baskin-Robbins retiring 5 of its iconic flavors, including French vanilla, some of our readers asked us: "What's the difference between vanilla and French vanilla besides the yellow color?"

While both ice creams use vanilla bean to flavor the cream, the base of the ice cream is where the two differ. French vanilla ice cream has a custard base, which means egg yolks (where the yellow color comes in) are used to produce a thicker, creamier texture. Heating is also involved in a custard base. The classic vanilla ice cream has a base of cream or milk that does not need to be heated.

The National League Baseball team may have won the All-Star game this year (first time in 13 years), but did you know about the competition happening off the field? Chefs from both leagues gathered together at Angel Stadium to face off in what was called "Taste of the Majors."

"Whichever item sold the most would take home the prize, the pride and a shot at becoming a regular menu item at Angel Stadium."

Head over to AOL News to read more about the winner.
