Eat, Drink, Man, Woman: Does Gender Dictate What We Eat?

Photo: Jupiterimages

Sure, there are a couple of male celebs who have come out as vegetarians (think: Joaquin Phoenix and Tobey Maguire), and women may be slowly entering culinary school as butchers instead of pastry chefs but, says Slate's Riddhi Shah, "in the American consciousness, real men still don't eat quiche and women stick with chocolate, tofu and yogurt."

So why do certain foods (and drinks) get divided among gender and why is America at the forefront of the girl vs. boy pack? Read more about it here.

Jalapeno Popper Burger - Feast Your Eyes

If you've been wondering how to give your burger an extra little kick, this piled up sandwich topped with bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers should do the trick.

So other than the poppers sitting on top of the patty, what's the secret? Chop onions and jalapeno peppers into the hamburger meat to really set your summer on fire. See the recipe here.

As Average Betty, the creator of this spicy burger says, "it's prepared with lean meat, melted cheese and all the heat [you] can handle."

Is it Safe to Eat Gulf Seafood?

Many fish and seafood lovers are wondering whether it is safe to buy the fresh wild gulf shrimp on sale at their local markets, while other consumers of unmarked fish worry whether what they're eating came from the Gulf of Mexico. Mango Curry Ice Cream Sandwich - Feast Your Eyes

Summer and ice cream sandwiches go hand in hand. Who doesn't love a large dollop of cool, creamy goodness pressed between two crunchy cookies? Well, those allergic to gluten might be raising their hands right about now. Never fear.

Thanks to blogger Picky Gourmet (a.k.a Callie Anne, who is studying to be a chef in L.A.) we bring you an exotic ice cream sandwich that even the gluten-intolerant can enjoy. Picky Gourmet discovered Glow's Gluten-free cookies and writes: "They are not bland, or sandy or dry or earthy, or stick-in-your-teethy or off in any way whatsoever."

Glow
cookies come in four flavors: Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip and Gingersnap. Picky Gourmet chose Gingersnap and shared her delicious recipe for Mango Curry Ice Cream, made with fresh mangoes and yellow curry, here (scroll down past the cookies). Enjoy!

Bored of Brown Bacon? Here Comes a Rainbow

Photo: Neil Caldwell

According to BaconToday.com, Neil Caldwell, a graphic designer and bacon lover, has created a "color wheel of bacon." For now Caldwell's staying mum on how he gets the bacon strips to transform into shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, and how the color stays true even after cooking.

For more on the colored bacon phenomenon, check out the full article on AOL News.
