Taco Bell May Countersue Group That Sued Over Beef

Taco Bell is really not letting this whole beef lawsuit controversy go.

Here is the rough sequence of events: Taco Bell was sued for allegedly not using real beef, and Taco Bell fired back claiming that the charges were bogus. It launched an aggressive campaign to de-bunk the claims. The suit was dropped. Taco Bell demanded an apology.

Now, as it awaits said apology, Taco Bell thinks it deserves even more, and is considering countersuing, reports FoxNews.com. Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed tells Fox News that the company started of the year very strong but the consequences of the beef lawsuit resulted in a slower quarter, and that Taco Bell is suffering from the bad publicity.

We get what they're trying to do here, but frankly, it feels a little like beating a dead horse at this point. How about making tastier tacos instead?

Taco bell was falsely advertising more meat in their products than their actually is, not to mention that their products are crap health-wise anyways. For anybody to side with Taco Bell makes me seriously question their mental condition.

Taco Bell wasn't making any false claims whatsoever; that's what the lawsuit was about, and they pulled their suit when they realized they had no case. Taco Bell never, ever claimed to be serving 100% pure beef in their tacos, and to their credit, they were completely straightforward with the public about exactly what's in their meat.

It's not hard and not expensive little food carts do it every day in Mexico. It's called FRESH products. http://newsy1.wordpress.com

But to people who do like their food the lawsuit had an effect on business. And since the lawsuit itself was based on bogus claims then I think they should counter-sue.

Its not beating a dead horse as the article claims its merely getting the message out there that Taco Bell was accurate in their claims and it also sends a message to other lawfirms that might be tempted to file bogus claims against other companies.

It would be like if someone sued SlashFood for something that was completly untrue and misleading. If you lost advertisers and readers because of it you would want compensation for it.

Merely having the lawsuit dropped would be nice but you would still be out of pocket for the needless expense of your lawyers, your PR people trying to get out the proper statements and the lost revenue.

Frankly I hope they do sue and win big. Its not about whether they are big business or not, its not about whether they sell something thats healthy or not. Its all about the fact being that they have lost money due to a groundless accusation and should be compensated for that.
