Not all of the businesses are aware they are hiring illegals...some, but not all. The failure of the enactment of E-verify nationwide, coupled with "paper mills" that crank out illegal documents compounds the frustration small businesses have in trying to cull out the bad. I know, I'm in the landscape industry in Colorado have watched many of my landscape contractor friends try to comply, only to be told to look the other way because these are deserving human beings who will work hard and contribute. Sorry to also say to those who say the contribute to our economy but take nothing in return are very mistaken...they are sending their pay back to their families south of the border. Good for ICE cracking down on the EMPLOYEES...perhaps this will put the fear of God in them. Then go find where they were able to get the documents...then prosecute them until they can't get out...just sayin'...

If anyone has traveled to Latin and South America and witnessed the abject poverty that exists in socialist "workers paradises" , they would no longer wonder why the poor leave their families and come here to work and send money home for their families. We should
A. Secure the broder immediately, at Mexico and Canada. This is vital to stop more illegals flooding in, and to make it difficult for criminals and Muslim terrorists to enter.
B. Begin to round up all illegal aliens, screen them, and send back those who are not desirable or are criminals.
C. Register the others, and get them into the tax system, and give them work permits.
D. Provide no social security or welfare"benefits" to non-citizens.
E. Require all permit workers to learn English as a requirement to stay here and work.
F. Non-citizens must also be barred from voting.

I ended up working 3 lab assistant jobs (at one time=62 hours a week, not including commute time by bus --which, by the way, was a mile away from where I was living so I walked 2 miles a day.) I worked hard and I did it with efficiency and with a smile on my face. I also had a degree (which I paid every dime of that degree) at the end of these 3 jobs. I went through medical school with 2 jobs (40 hours) until residency. I also paid for that, as well. This idea that American won't work hard or long hours is bogus. We do, it just doesn't make headlines because we do it LEGALLY. It is this opinion that is used as an EXCUSE for illegal activity that made my life hell for 5 months until I could find any employment. I went without food for days, no electricity for a approx. one month and no phone for the first 2 years. No car for 10 years in a very big, but inadequately public-transported, city too.

People who say Americans are not willing to work hard have never been outside of America or employed anyone there. I have. I can tell you, from living in 7 different countries on 5 different continents, that AMERICANS ARE SOME OF THE HARDEST WORKING PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. I'll put approx. days off for holidays in America, sick days, etc. up against ANY other country's any day of the week. If you are unlucky enough to employee in a highly religious or alcohol-loving country you can forget making a profit, especially after paying the local gov't's bribes.

People, the real reason this happens is because Americans are used to low tabs and huge portions. Make it a point to tell restaurants that you would pay more for employing a hard-working and just as deserving legal citizen or visa holding college kid, parent, career-changing older adult THEN PROVE IT BY DOING IT.

They find a sure target, and just keep repeating the action over and over and over... kind of like playing a broken slot machine. Too much work to actually go bust someone else hiring illegals. We can see how worthless they are just by this simple action. Go for what will make the headlines, not for what actually needs to be taken care of.
