Vegan Magazine Apologizes for Meat Photos

VegNews apologyPhoto: VegNews

"We screwed up." So begins the letter of apology (its second) from vegan-lifestyle magazine VegNews to its readers after the mag was found to be using photos of actual meat in its spreads.

Yes, it was "symbolic imagery," according to the letter from publisher Joseph Connelly and his management team. But from now on, the letter assures readers, it will "never again use non-vegan photographs" in the magazine. The staff outlines the following additional claims:

  • Recipes in VegNews will be represented only by custom vegan photography. Count on it.

  • All stock images used in the magazine and website will be vegan. We will make sure so that you can be sure.

  • VegNews will build and host a vegan photo bank to assure the availability of vegan stock images. Look for details in the coming days.
Based on the comments, the readers have largely accepted the apology and the world of vegan photography will now be forever changed for the better.

Vegetables are ok too, of course, it's just that they are NOT the main course! If you'll excuse me I'm going to go and grill a Porterhouse Steak. Mmmm!

And I've had some pretty tasty non-meat main dishes that were made with plenty of vegetables. They can make a pretty great dinner too... so can eggs, and so can cheese dishes, and they're not meat either. Neither is pasta, come to think of it -- ever have spaghetti for dinner? (Sometimes those pasta main dishes have vegetables in them too!)

Of course they are a testy bunch and use any excuse to stir up contraversy.

Anyway, educate yourself as to what you might be trying to espouse at any given moment in time!

He also does alot of working out but is the biggest whiner about his body hurting it will drive you nuts. I've tried to come up with a nicer way to tell him about his bad breath other than it would knck 2 buzzards off a manure wagon but I could'nt so thats what I told him and he acted like he was proud of it. Oh yeah,I don,t think that they make soap out of meat so most of you veganites can go ahead and use some...please.

If in fact what McDonald's serves is real meat. I don't touch their stuff.

Asians smell so badly of garlic that I don't know HOW they can say anything about Americans, it's gag-inducing, and I'm not being racist just being honest, every time in in a line behind an Asian person I feel like i'm going to gag, not all, but honestly, MOST, and especially the older folks. Again, not being rude, just responding to the comment, thanks.

I prefer garlic -- although my ex-husband used to sweat it from his pores when he'd cook, and eat great quantities of Spanish (NOT Asian!) garlic soup. Not why he is an ex. The Japanese do not like bodies that smell of meat, you don't like those that smell of garlic, and I'm certain there are other powerful food smells out there that come through to those not used to the smell.
