The 10 Most Unnecessary Food and Drink Inventions

If you've ever been tempted to buy a kitchen product from a late-night pitchman -- a set of Ginsu knives, a food dehydrator or maybe even that ubiquitous "set it and forget it" rotisserie -- you're not alone. I love my garlic press. Sure, I know how to cut garlic by hand but I only do this when finely chopped garlic benefits the dish more than smashed garlic. I personally use wine stoppers, not fancy stainless steal ones but the ones that use the lever to enlarge a rubber gasket. I tend to find that it keeps wine from dripping out if I store the bottle in my fridge on its side. I also have the pampered chef version of the slap chop and it works great. I use it for fresh salsa because it is quicker than using a knife and less aggressive than my food processor.
And come on! Who hates on the spork?

On the other hand they have pressure cookers on their essential list and I really can't see how they're that essential. Yes they are a time saver, but things done with them can be done without them. The list just seems a bit snooty and random, and this is coming from a food snob.
