Right in time for the Super Bowl, brewing giant MolsonCoors has goosed its flagship beer's inconic look, rolling out a quartet of retro designs -- but not a corresponding retro flavor -- dating from 1880 to 1959. That year, Coors unveiled America's first aluminum can, and thus birthed the legend of the "yellow belly" beer vessel. In conjunction with the commemorative rollout (which is slated to last till March), the brewer has requested that beer drinkers leave their favorite Coors Banquet stories on the brand's Facebook page.
Here's mine: When I was young, broke and beer-thirsty, I'd pool my pennies and nickels together and head to my corner convenience store. I'd reach inside the fridge and pull out a 24-ounce cylinder of Coors. Did I love the watery lager's flavor? Not really, but I definitely adored that round, hunter-orange 99-cent sticker.
