"Peanut butter and chocolate just got better!" claims the promo for the new Snickers Peanut Butter Squared campaign. But did they? We Slashfooders ran out for a bag of the new candy bars (each a 1.78-ounce square) as soon as they hit the store shelves today. I mean, it's a Snickers, the classic chocolate bar. What's to improve?
Turns out, not much. "I'm not getting the peanut," said one editor. "The nougat flavor is overwhelming." "I wanted more peanut butter," said our resident candy fanatic. "I feel like I've been duped!" And our resident candy curmudgeon said, "It's kind of a mess."
The verdict? Keep it classic, Snickers, with just the peanuts (singular) or up the ante on the peanut butter. But we still love you.

I just tried a peanut butter Snickers last night...and I thought it was amazing! the perfect amount of peanut butter! if they had added anymore, I might as well have gotten a Reece's...It was still a Snickers bar, but with PLENTY of gooey peanut butter. You people don't have any taste buds if you think it's bad.

I agree taste is very subjective so undoubtedly some folks will like it, but not me, that's for sure. It was weeks ago and I'm still feeling queezy when I think of it.

I havent had one yet, but I always loved the original snicker but had to stop eating because of the peanuts, so I know it will be great, Thanks

The response was overwhelming. The size was well liked, snack size. The peanut butter taste was just enough to satisfy. It added a little ting to the already liked , original Snickers. I strongly disagree with your quote,"one Editor". I feel it was not meant to be a peanut butter candy bar, just a peanut butter tease !

But, y'all have to try the new Reese's peanut butter cups "minis". They are the perfect size to pop and the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter. I find that the full size Reese's are too peanut buttery and way too sweet. I used to like the "fun size" and would keep them in the freezer- but there was still too much packaging. The mini's are in a bag and pour like m&m's, but don't keep them in your hand, they would melt in a heart beat! if only they would last in your hand long enough.
Please slashfood editor- you must try these tiny morsels. I may have to find a 12 step group to cure my new addiction. Care to join me!
