Domino's New Wisconsin 6 Cheese Pizza Taste Test

Photo: Elizabeth Hait, AOL

Added Wednesday to Domino's American Legends Pizza line, the Wisconsin 6 Cheese pizza is the chain's first new product since Domino's changed their pizza recipe last year.

The pizza is topped with mozzarella, feta, provolone, Cheddar, Parmesan and asiago cheeses, making it one of the cheesiest pizzas on the market. According to Nation's Restaurant News, "Domino's is supporting the new pizza with ads that highlight its use of cheese from American dairy farms. The ads will feature customers in a focus group in what they think is an office until the walls come down to reveal a dairy farm."

We couldn't call Domino's fast enough for delivery this morning and we were lucky enough to have some of our very own pizza aficionados from sister and brother sites Lemondrop and Asylum to help us out.

Our biggest qualm (and everyone else's) with this pizza was the lack of cheese, surprisingly. Especially when we opened the box and a whiff of asiago permeated the air. The only time we were able to distinguish the cheese was when we ate the crust separately -- then we could taste the asiago. There was not a feta chunk to be found.

Call this a regular Domino's cheese pie -- it wouldn't make a difference. However, we still love the new and improved tomato sauce and garlic bread crust.

Nutritional information was not available for this specific pie on their website. For the other American Legends pies, Domino's gives a range of calories, fat and sodium for all seven pies which goes from terrible to outrageous. The information below is taken from that nutritional sheet and is based on a large pizza.

Domino's Wisconsin 6 Cheese Pizza
Grade: B
Nutritional Information: 1880-3840 calories, 102-232 grams fat, 3590-9520 mg sodium
Our testers said: "While the pizza wasn't bad itself, it wasn't anything special. I wouldn't think twice about ordering a regular cheese pizza if it was cheaper." "I was really looking forward to tasting the feta, but the other cheeses must have overpowered it (or it was left out)." "Nothing special, but this pizza is still way better than anything the other pizza chains are putting out right now."

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Philly Cheesesteak
Grade: B

"When Domino's coupled the pride of Philadelphia with one of my favorite late night snacks I was eager to try. Unlike most Philadelphians, I'm not a fan of onions on my steaks, but on the Domino's slice it wasn't that bad. It gave the pizza just a hint of extra flavor that made me want more. Sure it lacked the traditional Cheez Whiz, but other than that it was a pretty solid slice. Kudos, Domino's. I'd definitely sample again." -- Keith M.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Cali Chicken Bacon Ranch
Grade: B+

"Big toppings and lots of them. As a native, this really reminds me of a California artisanal pizza right out of the oven. It would be nice with a glass of Napa wine." -- Ernie K.

"I really enjoyed it. It definitely had that thick pillowy crust that pizza chains have and pizza parlors don't, but the flavor was great. The bacon was cooked just right and the slice was pleasantly creamy. The chicken was fine, but completely overpowered by the bacon. It didn't need to be there." -- Josie S.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Fiery Honolulu Hawaiian
Grade: B-

"As a fan of sweet Hawaiian pies for some years I figured that coupling it with a little bit of spicy couldn't hurt. Domino's Hot Hawaiian gave my stomach a little tingle but still brought a smile to my face with the perfect amount of jalapenos. Had there been any more I probably would've been walking around sweating bullets. Sure there could have been a tad more pineapple or even a sprinkle more ham, but it still worked for me. I'd definitely go back for seconds." -- Keith M.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Honolulu Hawaiian
Grade: A

"It was delicious! The bacon was a surprise. I've had plenty of Hawaiian-style pies before with shrimp, but I find I prefer the bacon and I'd order it over a local pizzeria. The crust was crunchy and the pineapples weren't dry. Thumbs up." -- Tania P.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Pacific Veggie
Grade: C

"I would imagine anything dubbed "Pacific" to have seafood. Is that just me? Despite the fact that my slice did not have a bit of shrimp on it, I thought it was delicious. I was also expecting it to be a bit more salty. Other than that, I would have a second slice." -- Wajma Y.

"The sauce was nice, smooth, and tasty. However, the tomatoes lacked crispness and the olives and the mushrooms weren't tender. It tasted like every other pizza franchise's veggie pizza. No Cali freshness here." -- Dana O.

"I'd definitely be satisfied grabbing it in LAX if my flight was delayed, but probably wouldn't go for it normally. The taste was better than a frozen pizza, but it's still too much fat and carbs for an everyday lunch." -- Marissa G.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: BBQ Chicken
Grade: A

"I loved it. The big pieces of tender chicken and grilled onions really add to the flavor of the BBQ sauce. I also always love their not too crunchy, not too doughy crust. The sauce stands out -- it's sweet, but not too sweet, with a touch of authentic Memphis spiciness -- and makes the chicken taste so good but isn't overwhelming. I would definitely order this again." -- Lindsey S.

Dominos American Legends Pizza Pies

Dominos's American Legends: Buffalo Chicken
Grade: B-

"This had nice big chunks of chicken, but really didn't pack the spicy punch of Buffalo chicken. I wanted to throw some Tabasco, Anchor Bar, or Frank's Red Hot sauce on there for a real Buffalo feel, but as I didn't have any, I had to make do." -- Ernie K.

I hate when people make our pizzas wrong, it makes us all look bad.

Piazza uses only one cheese anything else is not pizza but a conglomeration of crap. Which is what Domino's is, crap! The only way to make a Domino pizza taste good is to rip the taste buds out of customers mouths.

Meanwhile, I'll take pride in the job that I have. Sorry my employment doesn't live up to your standards. maybe someday I'll have a "real cooking job" you approve of.

Domino's is the only surviving chain pizza in our area. I think next time I have a taste for pizza, I will order this. Someone mentioned it was burned in spots. As Domino's cooks on a conveyor oven, it means the heat was too high or the conveyor was too slow. No problems with pizza from local Domino's.

I actually tried a slice of this particular pizza last night and it was tasty, very cheesy. Hard to savor any particular cheese flavor however seeing as how the cheeses melt together.

There is no Crust or bread to speak of, or rich tomato sauce and spices. It is a food for people with the munchies that would eat a tire iron if you put whip cream on it! It is gross. I know those are Dominos in the logo, but in dice when you roll a 2 and a 1 its Crap(s)-A rose by any other pizza-oops name!

I dont like when uninformed people bash or trash things that they have no information or experience with. Dominos has good pizza and is not too bad of a place to work. Alot of high school kids get their first job there. Also some college kids work there way through college at Dominos. I dont know why someone just started talking garbage to Jordan before finding out what else Jordan does. Jordan I dont care if you work at Dominos full time, or part time or what ever. Dont let people talk bad about where you work. I will probably be leaving Dominos soon because my other job is going to start to interfere with me working for Dominos, I make more at my other job so, I will have to leave Dominos for now. I will always like Dominos pizza and like Dominos as a company.
