5 Reasons Why We Love Burger King's NY Pizza Burger

Photo: Sarah De Heer, AOL

In August, we announced that Burger King was launching yet another death-defying sandwich -- the NY Pizza Burger. This behemoth of a burger contains four Whopper patties, slices of pepperoni and mozzarella cheese with marinara and "Tuscan sauce" (which was indistinguishable from the marinara) on a giant sesame seed bun.

While we weren't able to attend the launch, we finally got around to trying it this week, and boy, was it worth the wait. Erik Trinidad of Fancy Fast Food joined us for the task and we were all in agreement -- this was one unforgettable fast food creation.

Coming in at a "whopping" 2,530 calories, 144 grams of fat and 3,780 milligrams of sodium, this burger is meant to feed six people. However, while we were there, we saw two people dig into this thing and finish it. We can't point fingers, but we were only able to get four servings out of it.

At first bite, it tastes like a Whopper, but with the second bite, it tasted more like pizza. The more you eat it, the more the flavors blend -- creating an addictive eating experience.

The Top 5 Things We Loved Most about the NY Pizza Burger:
1. The "pizza box" it comes in.
2. It took two hands to carry this meal.
3. The pepperoni. The pieces weren't as greasy as pepperoni you'd find on a regular pizza. They were meaty and really made the burger.
4. It was fun -- something to do if you have friends visiting NYC who beg you to take them to Times Square.
5. For the first time ever, fast food filled us up.

Why do we buy these types of things for ourselves and our families? This has got to stop somewhere....we can't continue to be the fatest country in the world, don't you want to be alive to see your children, or your children's children? Dying of a heart attack, or stroke or diabetes complications can be avoided if we just watch what we eat (and exercise) and not allow these places to come up with fast ways to kill us, this sandwich just goes right along with the terminator sandwich referenced on Biggest loser....that is why health care is so high and costly, we all need help.

If we all listened to people like him we would all be skinny as a rail and bored out of our mind. I say when the end is here I want to slide into home plate yelling Yah Hoo what a ride and have one very fat, used up and worn out body to trash. Bet no one listens to him at home so he comes on comment boards to spew. He's also probably 500 pounds and is pissed cause he can't get out to get one. ROFLMAO

If you want to do that, better go in and pass laws against everything in this world that is unhealthy for us. When you're done, let us know what is OK to eat and drink, alright? LOL

Maybe if "we" could edjumacate everyone on how to eat healthy then everyone would make good choices. That's why we don't have anymore problems withs drugs or over-population. HURRAY! for everyone making the wisest choices possible!

it is YOUR choice

10-16-2010 @4:48PM it is YOUR choice said... Recipe for making money in fast food industry.
Take fat, add sugar and salt. Viola!!! Not working? Add more fat sugar and salt.
I love/hate fast food. These guys are great, they are giving people what they want tasty cheap calorie laden food. Dany boy unless BK personally invited you or twisted your arm the only way to procure the ''death sandwich'' is to drive/walk to BK stare at menu place order and pay for meal.
Typically the cheaper the food the further we get from eating healthy. Although I have noticed less of a super size push at fast food places, people still think spending 89 cents to double your fries and soda is worth it. (lots more fat n sugar) Most fast food places do offer salad and if you select non fat dressing you can eat healthy-er. Don't blame retailer for giving the public what they want, BK will make money if you buy pizza burger or salad, the CHOICE IS YOURS. If people ate more salads than burgers trust me they would offer more salads. The conspiracy is to get your money, getting you fat is the by product of their success.

A-Train

10-12-2010 @11:56AM A-Train said... Dude, while we are on this topic, the whole government thing is already happening in my state (NM). The government first repealed the food tax, but then when budgets got tight they brought it back. BUT, they only brought it back on the "junk foods" ie anything NOT whole grain or whole wheat or low fat or sugar free. So gummi bears? Taxed. So, White bread? Taxed. So, regular (not whole grain)pasta? Taxed. Steak? dependes on the cut. I found out that ribeyes are taxed 12% more than petite steaks, which dont have as much fat! Weird... dang it government, stay outta my fridge...

bewell

10-12-2010 @5:24PM bewell said... I'm all for freedom of choice but I wonder if the people who cringe at the thought of govt involvement in their food choices know the extent of their govt's current involvement. These unhealthy (in this case laughably unhealthy) food choices are made attractive through corn subsidies established decades ago. Corn that feeds the cattle. Corn syrup that is the soda. If the govt didn't make those things unrealistically cheap in relation to fresh foods, people might choose according to their nutritional needs instead of their economic needs. Might not. Everyone loves a delicious french fry now and then. But when your nutritional needs are up against artificially low prices, incessant advertising and taste thats engineered for addiction, I don't know how much you're exercising your freedom of choice and how much you're relenting to external pressures. Before we go asking govt to solve a problem partly of its own creation, let's address what they're currently (over)doing. Maybe the answer is less govt, not more.

Kent

10-12-2010 @8:34PM Kent said... I learned in law school that every person has the right to be a damned fool, and the law will not protect you from one's foolishness or compensate you for damages arising from foolish behavior.

If I want to eat myself to an early grave, it's my right. Why do you care if I want to eat myself into an early grave. The only people who should care are family members, since they rely on me for various things. You aren't harmed by my wanting to eat large quatities of fast food.

Look at it this way. If the neighbor kid wants to eat himself into an early grave, it's no big deal, other than the fact that he is once less working person to pay for my Social Security.

If the neighbor kids wants to drive like a maniac, while my son and his playmates are playing outside, and their basketball keeps rolling into the street, then we have a problem. His recklessness can cause harm to others. Wreckless dining only harms the diner.
