Burger King's new breakfast menu made its debut in restaurants across the country on Tuesday in the company's "largest menu expansion ever."
New breakfast items include pancake platters, blueberry mini-muffins, a cibatta breakfast sandwich and iced coffee drinks, Nation's Restaurant News reported. The new menu items will be available until 10:30 a.m. daily.
"We're ready to compete to be America's wake-up call with our new BK Breakfast Menu," Mike Kappitt, Burger King's chief marketing officer for North America, said in a statement. "We're recognized far and wide for our superior burgers, and we're confident guests will know and love us for breakfast as well. Given the quality, variety and value on our new menu, Burger King is sure to become the destination for breakfast."
In addition to Burger King's long-standing breakfast staples like the Crossan'wich and French Toast Sticks and newer items like the BK Breakfast Muffin Sandwich and Breakfast Bowl, the morning menu now includes:
- The BK Breakfast Cibatta Club Sandwich with eggs, tomatoes, ham, bacon, American cheese and tomato sauce on a whole grain Ciabatta bun.
- Mini Blueberry Biscuits with vanilla icing for dipping.
- The BK Ultimate Breakfast Platter with scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, a biscuit and pancakes. A sausage and a pancake platter are also available.
- Seattle's Best Coffee and iced coffee in mocha, vanilla and regular flavors.
A Mintel study revealed that restaurants added more than 460 breakfast foods in 2009, NRN reported. Subway, Quiznos and Dunkin' Donuts all also made recent breakfast menu additions.
Burger King's menu launch comes on the heels of the company's announcement of a proposed sale to New York private equity firm 3G Capital for $4 billion, NRN reported.
Burger King operates more than 12,000 restaurants around the world.
