The name "Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt" hardly does justice to this psycho-brilliant monstrosity, which amounts to three sandwiches morphed into one: First, there's a Friendly's Big Beef burger, but instead of a bun, there are two (count 'em, two!) grilled cheese sandwiches. Open wide.
More after the jump... Cue the requisite gasp of shock as we roll out the numbers: 1500 calories (870 of those from fat); 79g of saturated fat; and a whopping 2090mg of sodium (trouncing the Double Down, which weighs in at a paltry 1380mg of salt).
Stay tuned -- the brave souls at Slashfood will soon be trying this salt bomb (and shelving their skinny jeans for the following week).Cue the requisite gasp of shock as we roll out the numbers: 1500 calories (870 of those from fat); 79g of saturated fat; and a whopping 2090mg of sodium (trouncing the Double Down, which weighs in at a paltry 1380mg of salt).

To the people who think this isn't healthy: DUH!!!!!
You're not supposed to eat stuff like this every day.

i'd highly recommend you google "double bypass burger vortex" to see some pictures of the monstrosity.
beyond all that, though, this is how i make my burgers at home. it's basically just a cheeseburger with two extra slices of bread.

I also tried the Double Down and really, if you order a fried chicken bucket- you're more likely to eat more fat, grease, and chicken than a Double Down. Hell, it barely compares to Taco Bell's Taco Salad, but you don't hear ranting and raving about that, do you?
The main problems with the double down aren't anything health related. It's just bland tasting, and really difficult to eat. If the patties were... patties, you'd be able to fit it into your mouth, and having a creamy sauce between the patties just makes them slip around, and you end up eating them as 2 seperate patties.
People need to not just look at numbers, they need to put those numbers into perspective to other things OF EQUAL WEIGHT. Yeah, a salad might have less calories, but how much salad do you have to eat in order to be full for the rest of the day, or hell even for an hour? A Whopper Jr might have less fat, but you need to eat 3-4 to get the same amount of food as this.

This argument doesn't represent some more enlightened perspective-- it represents knowing *nothing* about *how to eat* healthily.
One meal-- whether it's salad or an abominaburger-- aren't *supposed* to make you "full for the rest of the day." That's why you have never and will never hear any responsible, knowledgable dietician talking about "one square meal per day."
And "3-4 [Whopper Jrs] to get the same amount of food as this?" Nobody is *suppose* to eat as much food as that in one sitting. It's not how human bodies work! We're healthiest when we're eating (nutritious) foods in modest servings throughout the day-- big(ish) breakfast, snack, medium-sized lunch, snack, modest supper, snack. But when you have one massive dose of calories for the day and then count on it to keep you feeling "full" your body actually goes into 'food-must-be-scarce' mode and starts stockpiling every calorie it can as fat to sustain you when you start starving. This is basic stuff!
If the attitude or the information level that your post suggests is common then no wonder more and more people are in such a pitiable state, and no wonder this cardiac event on a bun has people defending it.

A one-time purchase of about 10 ft of rope, or a free elevator ride to the top of a tall building with roof access, or even a grocery bag and a belt to tie it off 'round your neck; each of those would leave a lot more money for your funeral expenses, especially once you factor in the extra savings from avoiding the piano-sized coffin and crane rental you'd need if you did it using these fat-suspended sodium bombs.
The double-down and now this-- it's like sociopaths have taken over the food industry and they're morphing it into an assisted-suicide franchise; they might as well re-name these restaurants "Kevorkian's"
