Paula Deen Robbed by Maid

Things right now aren't so Savannah sunny for Paula Deen. The doyenne of the Food Network, who has yet to meet a stick of butter that she didn't like, has been robbed of more than $10,000 in jewelry and other items.

According to the TMZ website, Paula's belongings were lifted by her maid, Mary Alice White.

A police report filed by Michael Groover (Paula's hirsute hubby) claims that White pinched the loot between August 2009 to May 2010. When the pair discovered some of the missing baubles in their employee's possession, they fired her.

White was arrested on May 5 and has been charged with felony theft.

I don't come from money, and do not have alot of material things, but I play the cards I've been dealt with and that means I do not take from anyone else. Those who steal will have to face their judge and pay in the end, so live your life honestly.

Seriously, why such rage at a woman who has overcome a lot in her life and built a good life and business for herself. People eat pork. If people didn't want pork Smithfield wouldn't package and sell it, and as far as I know, so far, we're still America and people are free to chose what they want to eat and people are free to own businesses that supply that choice. And, people who are celebrities are free to choose their sponsors. Don't want to watch Paula or eat in her restaurant and you are free not to.

People eat meat, wear leather and suck down all sorts of earthly resources. It's a shame. Why don't we all just starve to death or dress in hemp fibers, smoke it and not care what happens. Sorry for the cynical nature of this but I too love Paula and she's only doing what many have done more of with less panache. Good for her and any other woman who rose from having little to being in a position of prominence in her field (not feild).

6-08-2010 @3:30PM Chuck said... I thinks stealing is a horrible crime, people work hard for what they earn. The problem I have with this article is, don't we hear enough of this very poor cook and her put on accent. I'm from Georgia and I don't know anyone that talks with as much put on as she does, and I have eaten in the Lady and Son's 5 times and never once had a good meal. Quit giving her all this attention.

After the first meal I had there I didn't want to go back, but when out of town visitors want to go there, they are pretty hard to convince the place is not that great. Of course after the meal, everyone agrees, that they have had better food elsewhere. If you grew up eating Southern cooking, you would know the difference. Sorry to offend anyone that put Miss Paula on a pedestal, but she is not a favorite to most of the Georgia crowd.
