Down-home celebrity chef and Food Network star Paula Deen and her sons have been slapped with a $40 million counter suit filed by by Celebrity Chefs Tours LLC, Eater National reported.
The suit is in response to one filed by Deen against the event promoter back in February. That suit alleges that CCT defamed Deen and her sons after they canceled a 10-city tour and the company allegedly talked trash about their reasons, Food Network Addict reported.
In the counter suit CCT filed on March 15, the event promoter says the Deen family failed to promote a string of appearances to which they had previously agreed.
The promoter also took issue with "the language used by Paula Deen on stage" and alleges that "her show is not 'family-friendly' and that audiences at her previous appearances have been disappointed by the fact that Paula Deen rarely cooks during her performance," Eater reported.
The Deens are also accused of turning in promotional videos "loaded with profanity and sexual innuendo" that CCT said they couldn't use to promote the event, Eater reported.
Deen's federal suit against CCT alleges that the event promoter bounced a $150,000 check and sent "bogus" wire transfer instructions, Courthouse News Service reported in February. Deen claims the promoters defamed her and her family by telling the media they backed out of the tour after receiving "full payment in advance."
Paula Deen Enterprises and Deen Brothers Enterprises made a deal with CCT in December, Deen's complaint charges, to have Paul and her sons Bobby and Jamie Deen and her husband Michael Groover participate in 10 events. They were owed a $150,000 deposit, but Deen Enterprises claims the payment was delayed and the check bounced.
"Although the plaintiffs were entitled under Section 7(d) of the Tour Agreement to terminate the Tour Agreement immediately after the $150,000 deposit went unpaid, they continued to work in good faith with CCT on the planning of the events," the complaint states.
When further scheduled payments were missed, Deen and company backed out of the tour, at which time the complaint says CCT began defaming the Deens.

3-19-2010 @8:14PM LYNN PAGE said... We have watched Paula and her sons several times. Every time that we have seen them or even her on the show she has cooked some kind of food. I have never heard any kind of profanity come out of her mouth. We like Paula and her whole family very much. And I will always stand up for them.

Then one day she is on TV and she has " discovered" veal chops. 30 mins of fuss over breading and frying them. I have been doing it for 30 years and I am doing it a lot better. It would appear you are giving grammar lessons. I before E? What about the word neighbor? Please people relax, if she is getting to sexual it might be because of her age. Maybe she is showing signs of dementia, it does seem to be a symptom in some older people. As for her hair, I like it, who says we have to be a certain age to wear our hair the way we want. As for the show itself, boring. If she is being sued, I am sure it is for a reason so don't comment until all FACTS have been uncovered. Is she even worth this discussion?

I stopped watching her show in 2002 as she bagan showing her thue colors even then. The very sight of that woman and the sound of her voice repulse me. I would never watch her program, or ever purchase any product she endorses. Paula Deen is disgusting person and her sons are only folloing after their mother. The Deen family should not be on tv.

I think that all of the negative comments are afraid Paula might be going were there are at now and take over there throne in trash land. An awful lot of comment s from people who must still be watching the show to have so much to say. I enjoy her show the best advice if you don't like it the same button that turns it on can turn it off or change the channel. I bet there's not a day that goes by that a cuss word or something imperfect comes out of all of your mouths. When did god take the day off and leave all of you to judge.

This is all the fault of the promoter, Paula done nothing wrong, she is totaly the victim here, if the promoter would have followed through this would have not happened, and the to add insult to injury, the promoter insulted and degraded her tasty recipes, its a matter of fact, Celebrity Chef should just settle out of court and drop there joke of a suit, there is clear evidence of there fault and delay along with other evidence to prove Paulas case. Now with that said Paula has a lot of class, yes she has had a few times used some language unbecoming of a Lady, but you all have too/ and have no right to judge, her few mistakes. With that said lets just get on with it. We all love to cook and watch all the great food network shows, including Celebrity Chef. I going to go cook me up a great meal right now.

She doesn't make anything outstanding, just old fattening recipes. She talks like white trash. I wouldn't make anything she cooks, and I stopped watching her years ago. Can't stand that "y'all" talk all the time, so uneducated!!!!

So what if she puts a little "pepper" in her chatter. Its better than some of the mundane garbage that's on TV. She's a woman in her mid sixties having fun. She pulled herself out of a really bad situation and made herself into a commodity of great value. Her family is all around her and that's refreshing. Who cares if there's a double entendre here and there. I'd rather hear her y'alls and see that dazzling smile than watch some of the other BORING and senseless shows on TV. If you think she doesn't cook in a calorie-conscious way - SO WHAT - she's cooking southern food the way they make it there. Bottom line - everyone should just lighten up and stop being so prudish. If you don't like her -don't watch.
