Jack in the Box Fries Get a Makeover

Customers asked, and now Jack in the Box has answered: New French fries are on the way, with improvements to crispness, texture and freshness, Nation's Restaurant News reported.

"Fewer menu items generate more polarizing opinions than French fries," Tammy Bailey, division vice president of menu marketing and promotions for Jack in the Box, said in a statement. "So we created our new French fries with a crispier outside texture that enhances the potato flavor and helps them retain their temperature."

The new fries will be available at participating Jack in the Box restaurants later this month. They will come in small, regular and large sizes, costing approximately $1.39, $1.79 and $1.99, respectively, plus tax.

San-Diego based Jack in the Box operates about 2,200 franchises.

They grind up the onions, mix in some filler to dull down the taste (do they think we can't handle the strength of real onions?) then put the mix in a mold so that they all come out the same size.

Hopefully they're going back to crispy. Those soft, potato-y things they have now (much like Carl's switched to) are below average. BK (despite the posts here) and Mc's have retained the shoestring "crunch." Yes, Carl's needs to revert back to what they used to have.

RTegardless of where you ar at Jacks , Mc's , Carls , Wendy etc etc. ALWAYS order your fries with NO SALT!!! and tell them you have special health concerns. All fast food joints are used to and prepared for this request for fear of making a customer sick. They will cook a fresh order just for you the way you like and then not even place them in the regular fries bin. They will give you crispy fries that have not been heavily salted and prepared just for you. Your order may take 3 to 4 minutes instead of 30 seconds but its worth it , then add salt yourself to taste. You'll never eat soggy cold fries again.

If you order in the restaurant, they do a semi-good job of serving them. They almost fill that dinky little box with french fries. But if you order through drive thru, watch out. On several occassions, they have barely filled them up. It's like they sell you a small order but charge you for a large. I've contacted them through their website but til now, i've not received a single answer from them. I don't think they really care as long as they got your money. That's too bad, I used to love Jack In The Box alot. But since they made they burgers smaller and hiked up the prices, we rarely go there anymore. The few times we have gone, it's been a disappointment. So no more. I'd rather go to Wendy's. They're way expensive but at least you get served right, or at least it has been my experience.

Anytime you pay a Dollar for a potato for a few fries, you are short one fry of a Happy Meal. I've noticed the Mc Donald's in Charlotte now have started weighing the fries.. I agree you have labor cost and packaging, but you can buy them cheap from you Distributor, you are probably paying less than 50 cent per pound.

Honestly, the new fries were the worst out of all the fast food places that I go to. In fact, I will never eat any of the fries again. I don't care how awesome Jack is in all of his commericials, the fries have got to go. Jack, do a recall on your fries and go back to keeping happy customers. For all of you that are concerned by the health value in the fries, then maybe you shouldn't be eating at Jack in the Box.

Ever heard of not changing anything if it's not broken. Hell.....hire me for a fraction of the cost you're paying the idiots that chose to change the fries. Jack in the Box would have have more profits from not having to pay those idiots and also from keeping it's current customer's happy!

Jack in the Box can use a lot more than a french fry "makeover". best fries I ever tasted in my life (and I'm old) are at a place that just recently came to Colorado called Five Guys Hamburgers and Fries, they have huge sacks of fresh potatoes all over the restaurant and they make them fresh to order. I guess they have been around other parts of the country but are new to Colorado. Their portions are huge and the fresh hamburgers fantastic. It is supposedly Obama's favortite hamburger place in Washington. newsy1.wordpress.com

When I got home I found that these were the new fries. They were hard and sour tasting and lacked any real flavor. In a word they sucked. Now Jack has the worst fries of any chain. The new fries are really bad, the natural cut fries were a great improvement over their original fries but the new fries are bad, bad, bad. Big mistake Jack! Yuck.
