Just Born Unleashes Chocolate-Covered Peeps!

Just Born, Inc.

For years we've welcomed spring by biting through the sugary skin of chicks and bunnies to get to the soft and sweet marshmallow Peep inside. But this Easter, things are looking especially bright: Peeps manufacturer Just Born has let loose a new horde of sugary holiday snacks, housing their classic marshmallow flavor in both milk and dark chocolate. No, we're not talking about a little Peep nestled in an outer chocolate shell.

These guys aren't exactly like their classic brethren. Dunked into melted chocolate, these chicks -- no bunnies allowed in this club -- come in individually wrapped packages. Second, these new Peeps are lacking the crackling outer coating of sugar. Instead, to give the candy that classic Easter color, Just Born has colored the tasty 'mallow inside a nice pastel yellow.

Can chocolate bring new life to the beloved Easter treat, and match the piles of bunnies and chicks that find their way into eager Easter baskets, culinary adventures, and movie dioramas? Can you bear to bite into a Peep without its colorful skin and white center? We'll leave that answer up to you:

Chocolate-covered Peeps: yay or nay?

I always looked forward to the little yellow chicks "peeping" out of my basket the most! As a grown-up I have seen them take on new colors and cover the seasons. Now Chocolate. What more could a woman want?

You should be writing childrens stories" As the little yellow peep glared its way at me and I peeked around the corner of the door I knew, my easter has been made complete all because of a yellow(now whatever color and chocolate dipped)puff of marshmellow coated with soo much sugar it would send any self respecting diabetic into a coma. As I dreamed the night before of tons of peeps everywhere filling myhouse and then the streets with that marshamellow goodness smell" Lol your story for whetever reason reminds me of The Polar Express. I guess your book could be called " The Peep Basket" That sounds kinda scary tho!!!

Don't Dip My PEEPS!

3-02-2010 @7:37PM Don't Dip My PEEPS! said... I love peeps...have since I was a kid...been over 40 years with peeps in my life...never once did I get the urge to have them in chocolate. Peeps are a class all by themselves ...just like chocolate...but just like a reeses peanut butter cup....I will try them at least once. No one ever thought to put the peanut butter with chocolate with that combo and it turned out to be a winner. Peeps are so special...I love the flavored ones that are year round...

They grow big and toasty and gooey in the center like a marshmellow. Or put one on a graham cracker in the microwave and watch it grow bigger and bigger until it blow's up. Great entertainment.

BRING EM ON!!!!!!! i am a peeps fanatic BUT they must be hard peeps. i buy packages at a time and then slit the packages open and wait until the peeps are hard on the outside and still kind of soft on the inside. a girl i work with does this and goes one step further and freezes them before she eats them. can't wait for these new peeps to make an appearance.
