The Worst French Fries in America

If you're trying to trim down, french fries are probably not the best idea, but which fries are a little indulgence and which are downright diet busters?

The authors of "Eat This, Not That!" have ranked some of America's most fattening, unhealthy French fries -- and picked the "Best French Fries in America." And the winner may surprise you, Men's Health reported.

Which are the Worst Fries in America?

That dubious distinction goes to Chili's Texas Cheese Fries w/Jalapeno Ranch which pack a whopping 1,920 calories, 147 g fat (63 g saturated) and 3,580 mg sodium.

"The only thing that comes close to redeeming this cheesy mound of lard and grease is the fact that it's ostensibly meant to be shared with a few friends. Even so, you'll collectively be taking in an entire day's worth of calories, three days' allotment of saturated fat, and a day and a half's allotment of sodium," wrote David Zincezenko, author of "Eat This, Not That!" and editor of Men's Health magazine.

A large order of Five Guys Fries is the winner of the Worst Regular Fries prize with 1,464 calories, 71 g fat (14 g saturated) and 213 mg sodium. In the curly fries category, the worst are Arby's Curly Fries which have 640 calories, 34 g fat and 1,460 mg sodium into a large order.

"When one side dish accounts for nearly three-quarters of your daily allotment of salt, you know there's a problem," Zincezenko wrote.

On the other hand, if you're looking for the Best Fast Food Fries in America, look no farther than the golden arches.

A small order of McDonald's French Fries has just 230 calories, 11 g fat (1.5 g saturated) and 160 mg sodium.

They were a treat 'cause none of us had money to blow on fast food on a daily basis-maybe once a week. Common sense, more recess and fewer electronic gadgets would help keep kids' weight down. I have 16 G-kids and not a one is overweight. Fast food is uncommon to them, the little ones play out of doors and the older ones play baseball, swim bike etc. For the most part they eat home cooked meals with their family. I had some fries lately that were so dry and tasteless that all but a few went back to the kitchen.

The NUTRITION NAZIS who are running this site need to understand that people like delicious food, and they're going to eat it. I nominate the goose-stepping NUTRITION NAZIS at Slashfood as the "worst" food site on the internet.

All fast food is disgusting-hence the fil documentary Super Size Me, natural foods are what our human bodies are meant to process not this artificial trans fatty chemical altered industry made food. If yuo really care about your health and what goes in to your body you really wont eat out unless it is a special occasion and even then you should be picky of your food choices. The after effect is awful, full sluggish sometimes bloated form all the salt added for taste and preservation. It gives a quick high and slams you back down- no fry, burger, or hot wing is worth that. Find healthy ways to cook foods you like is the better idea.

I’ll put it even a better way, if you care at all about your health fries are out. They have way to much salt and omega 6 fatty acids. An imbalance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, can lead to many health issues.

No surprise cardiovascular disease is the # 1 killer and Cancer is the #2 killer.
Guess what the number 3 killer is?
Medical error
Guess what the #4 killer is?
Prescription drugs
Scary isn’t it?

They have a guaranteed lowest price policy. I end up paying about half of what it would cost me at the health food store.
