Danny Meyer Launches Service Consultancy

For those keeping score, Danny Meyer has found yet another way to capitalize on his famous customer-service skills. The king of the Union Square Hospitality Group, which includes New York classics like Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern and Eleven Madison Park, has long been revered for his ability to make his guests feel uniquely appreciated. So why not leverage his reputation? He's calling the new venture Hospitality Quotient, and his reps have dubbed it a "learning business focused on helping individuals, corporations and organizations to understand and apply the transforming power of hospitality."

But can Meyer's Midas touch be duplicated? Based on his phenomenal track record, it's a safe bet that business leaders will be willing to pony up to find out.

Classes start in March at the USHG headquarters in Manhattan. At first glance, the course offerings -- A.B.C.D. (Always Be Connecting Dots), How to Proactively Create a Great Customer Experience; Writing a Great Next Chapter, Mistakes Happen! Turn Disgruntled Guests into Loyal Fans -- sound a little more community-college than high-end "learning business." But the prices say otherwise, ranging from $425 per person for a half day to $1500 for a two-day session. So bet on success: If Meyer has taught us anything, it's that he knows how to make people happy.

It is true, that most internet based ads touting work from home companies are scams that want you to pay some sort of fee for their training or supplies, but the tide is turning. There are business models that do actually work and give people the opportunity to work from their home office.

According to an article in CNN Money magazine, they outlined a company that actually has succeeded in drawing in high quality individuals and have provided an honest workplace environment for them. The founders are seasoned management executives that owned and managed customer services organizations in the 90’s but were challenged in trying to keep the best people in the company.

They wanted to try something different to offer their employees a reason to stay with the company and provide a flexible friendly environment. The team decided to take advantage of newer broadband technology and custom software to track individuals work from home. The result was a successful business that has flourished over the past 13 years.
