The Weirdest Things You've Ever Eaten

Got a hankering for a ketchup sandwich? Salivating at the thought of scrambled eggs and grape jelly?

No, we're not talking pregnancy cravings -- we're talking strange (and objectively tasty) food cravings brought to you by a recent CafeMom.com inquiry: "Which weird foods do you eat that other people find utterly revolting?" Popcorn and Sno-Caps are so elementary, my dear Watson.

Included after the jump are just a few of the bizzare reader responses:

• Mashed potatoes and noodles with gravy.
• Gravy and biscuits with grape jelly.
• Peanut butter and mayo sandwiches.
• Chocolate cake with pinto beans.
• Hollowed-out pickles filled with ranch dressing and cheese.
• Garlic bread topped with peanut butter and spaghetti.

We wanted to see what our loyal Twitter and Facebook followers had to say too -- here's a few of the most eccentric eats:

• Peanut butter and Cheez Whiz sandwiches. (@christellar)
• Omelettes filled with strawberry jam.
• Bologna and pork 'n' beans sandwiches. (@mhoban)
• Carrots and wasabi. (@ianpenk)
• Hard boiled eggs and pickled beets on bread and butter.
• Mustard on pancakes. (@DavidHammond)

Can you top these curious combos? Tell us in the comments. And be sure to visit CafeMom.com for more peculiar pinings.

Also, my dad used to make something he called "Bean Dog Fondue," which was Kraft macaroni and cheese mixed with green beans and cut-up hot dogs.

More rarely was Sausage and Marmalade, but they were only for special occasions...

I always find this a hard question to answer because I'm surprised but what disgusts some folks and I eat a lot of excellent tasting food that disgusts a great many people. Jugged Squirrel (braised, sauce made from blood) is probably high on many lists, but I also love all those nasty bits from nose to tail (mmmm cheek, tongue, stomach, and testicles). But in general I'd say most people are grossed out by parts of things or animals not usually found on menus.

Also weird but awesome - microwave a snickers bar til gooey, then add hot fudge and a slice of sharp cheddar. I used to work at a country store and ate that all the time.

Having an adventurous palate, I have tried rattlesnake, pond turtle, squirrel, whale, emu, ostrich, squirrel, chicken and duck feet, bear, venison, etc. I want to try cuy (Guinea pig), which is a Peruvian staple. And horsemeat has always had appeal, but is impossible to buy here (because of whining from the horsey folk). The only things I stay away from are "crunchy" foods, like insects. I've eaten shrimp with the shells intact with Viet Namese friends and found them disgusting.

I suppose that the weirdest things I ate were my Mom's veggie sandwiches ... radish, kohlrabi or turnip. Yuck. Just butter and turnip between two pieces of soggy store-bought bread.

A few slices of dill pickle & some crunchy peanut butter. Great stuff. My mom also made brauncheweiger sandwiches for my lunches. I guess I was the weird kid in elementary school!

Of course, after having kids nothing seems weird to me. My toddler likes ketchup on peas and tartar sauce on fries. I just can't top that.

The pickles with ranch and cheese above sound great--I love fried pickles dipped in ranch. Somehow growing up we started having deviled eggs with beef stew, and now every time I have beef stew I crave deviled eggs. Here in Ireland most everything can be had with chips (fries); lasagna and chips is a great combo.

I frequently mix hummus and cottage cheese, cottage cheese and pickled beets, and any type of jam on meat sandwiches.
