KFC Offers Edible Reward for Missing Colonel Sanders
by Hanna Raskin, Posted Feb 9th 2010 @ 12:00PM
The 24-inch bronze bust vanished from a Berea, Ky., KFC just before closing time on Jan. 31.
"There were three men in the restaurant, and the employee went to the kitchen," spokesman Rick Maynard recounted. "When she returned, the three men and the Colonel had flown the coop."
The bust has graced the restaurant's dining room since the 1970s, making the outlet one of the few to house expensive KFC-related art. According to Maynard, the bust – depicting a jolly Sanders in his "trademark glasses and string tie" – is worth $1,500.
"Folks who frequent the restaurant kind of miss it," Maynard says. "I think it's been replaced with a potted plant."
Maynard says KFC would like to return the Colonel to his rightful place, watching over an outpost of his fried chicken empire, which got its start just an hour down the road in Corbin, Ky. "The police ran out of leads," he explains, "so we wanted to offer a unique reward."
Maynard estimates $500 would buy about 25 buckets of KFC grilled chicken. "What we're looking for is to catch these chickens," he says of the mysterious men allegedly behind the Colonel caper.

2-09-2010 @11:30PM j said... no, it says $500 of grilled chicken, the only thing about estimates, was that it probably would come out to 25 buckets, never anywhere does it say the reward is in money, quite the opposite, YOU learn to read

Ironically, the real Colonel is now a potted plant as well.

I'm sure the Colonel has already been melted down. The first successful KFC was not in Kentucky, it was on 7th Avenue in Miami in 1964, same as the first successful Burger King. How do I know ? I was there. The Colonel sold this incredible gravy he made from the chicken drippings that had tiny pieces of chicken in it. He would sell you a pint of it & 6 of these incredible soft Parkerhouse rolls he kept in a warmer. I'm one of 2 people that knows the gravy recipe, his daughter was the other. The Yum Corporation doesn't have the recipe...And that 40 year old statue was worth millions...Alfred-

Well dont sound like the COLONEL' S Bust means much to the Chicken House in Corbin offering a bunch of chicken for the return , I have eaten in many KFC chicken houses and can see why the theives won't be interested in the Chicken House reward as I use to work CSX Railroad in Corbin and tried eating there a few times and their chicken at the Chicken House in Corbin is about the worst Chicken I have ever eaten ,even tried feeding it to my little Pooch and one bite of chicken breast and she turned it down and walked away like to say no way she would eat a spoiled piece of chicken instead just go hungry and I had to run up on to the top of the hill and buy her a Burger at McDonalds, she gobbled that Burger down ,,, thank goodness for McDonalds
