Is the New Girl Scout Cookie 'Berry' Delicious?

Rachel Been, AOL

It's that time of year again, when our friends, family and neighbors ask us (on behalf of their daughters) the age-old question, "Would you like to buy Girl Scout cookies?" New for 2010, Thank U Berry Munch is the most recent flavor to be added onto the Girl Scout Cookie roster. Stuffed with real cranberries and white-fudge chips, they were crunchy and extremely sweet. One person said they tasted just like Special K strawberry cereal bars, others said they were similar to a Pecan Sandie with cranberries (while it has a prominent crunch, there are, uh, no pecans in it).

But is this cookie for everyone? Honestly, it's hard to compete with classics like Samoas (a.k.a. Caramel deLites), Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties), or Thin Mints. In Thank U Berry's defense, we do like that they've incorporated the fudge chips into the cookie rather than adding a coating over the top. And real pieces of cranberry are evident throughout (trust us, they stuck to our teeth) -- we suspect that kids will love the berry flavor.

They could, however, be just a tad less sweet, and we'd also like to see less processed ingredients in the nutritional information. That way we wouldn't feel so bad when we're finishing off the box!

To order cookies, find a local council near you.

bottom line on gun control is...
it only affects legal gun owners most of whom are responsible with their weapons. we dont need any more gun laws we just need to enforce the laws we have. the person who wrote why do u need a semi auto weapon is a tard cause most all guns nowadays are semi autos. and besides it is our right. without that right we have no recourse against this country turning into a socialist/marxist/communist country. a bunch of you are bound and determined to see that through anyway....

As a Boy Scout, I went door to door selling whatever it was we sold.
Now you see GS set up outside Wal Mart, in Malls, even outside Truck Stops.
I go out of my way to avoid contact with these groups. When confronted, I simply tell them to come to my neighborhood.
I believe they should work for the sales.
I realize there are ex criminals, and twisted minded child molesters(Timothy F. Showers) out there.
That's where a parent comes in hand. I know parents have alot on their hands, but there's always time for your children.

My daughter used to be in GS. The reason why GS do not go door to door is for safety reason's. Yes, there is alway's an adult with the girls, but that does not guarantee safety ie;. dog's, crazy people.

Many busy families work really hard to have their children in programs with positive messages. When these girls are making an effort to be out in the community, even if it's in front of your local store, then they are showing the community who they area and what they stand for. Open your wallet and buy some cookies-or for that matter do as I do, buy a box and give them a 20.00 to keep.

In a lot of neighborhoods in our council girls will sell door to door with wagons of cookies, kind of a twist on "booth" selling. You can contact your local council and they will have a local girl contact you for your order etc. :-)

The only way some of these girls CAN sell enough cookies to earn their badges or whatever is to do table sales outside of stores. Please don't ignore them. It's not their choice or their fault they were born in this generation and not ours.

We had to go door to door...it has been years since I have seen ANY kid do anything that involves actually walking or working (except the kids with paper routes)

We have the cookies with us so that customers can enjoy them immediately! The only thing is that sometimes people don't have cash at home (believe it or not), but they do have the $ when shopping at the store or there is an ATM close.

Dont talk crap about people or to people you dont know crap about!!

This is largely in part to the fact that they DO NOT TASTE THE SAME ANYMORE! Really, at $3.50/box, the selection reeks! The shortbread is no longer soft and palatable, the thin mint have little to no visible mint cream within, the peanut butter sandwich cookie is dry and unflavorful...and the V'ancho (Sandwich Cremes...Gone!) I no longer can support the girl scouts with such sub-standard fare. I will donate a few dollars, but spare me the cheapness of the cookies...No Trans Fats, No Flavor! And with everything that HAS changed, the simple pleasures of life have been taken away.

They taste better than those Brownie Cookies (more like rocks really) than they had last year, those were horrible...My old fave used to be Samoas, but now they're just too sweet (I'm getting old! Lol!) but this is now my fave....

But Trefoils will always be at the top! Lol!
