An East Texas woman got a surprise when she bit into a Milky Way candy bar on a recent road trip, KLTV 7 news reported.
While driving from her home in Brownsboro, Texas, to Dallas on New Year's Day, Sue Calhoun brought her usual road-trip snack: a candy bar and a Coke.
"I took one bite and it was fine, then I took another bite and bit down on something and thought, 'Well, it may be a peanut,'" Calhoun told KLTV 7.
But it wasn't a peanut. Calhoun said she instead found a tooth with a silver filling in her Milky Way.
"Every time I think about it, I kind of get sick to my stomach because I don't know what kind of mouth it came out of," Calhoun told KLTV 7.
She called the manufacturer to report the incident, and Mars Chocolate North America wanted her to send the tooth and the candy to the company, Calhoun said. The company offered her free candy coupons and an apology, KLTV 7 reported.
"We recently learned of the possible presence of a foreign object in one package of our Milky Way product, in the Brownsboro, TX, area. Food safety and product quality are of paramount importance to Mars and we are committed to the highest standards of quality and safety," Marsh Chocolate North America said in a statement.
"We have been in touch with Ms. Calhoun and have already taken steps to ensure that the product in question is returned to us for evaluation. Since we are currently in the middle of this process, no conclusion has been reached at this time."

It doesn't show when I smile but I could use a good tooth to chew on. Mars, could you please E-mail me if I can have the tooth providing it is a molar? I can't tell by the photo if it's an incissor or molar. I wouldn't pay for a dental implant but Liquid Nails works very well.

They wanted the fingernail and wrapper sent to them in a plastic bag that they sent to me. I received coupons and an apology also and they said they would do more investigating, its been ova a year now......

A friend bought a bag of roasted peanuts and was munching on them while watching a football game. He grabbed a handful of peanuts and there was a roasted mouse head in the bag of peanuts. Ugh. He contacted the store and brought the roasted mouse head ( and the bag of opened peanuts) to our office for show and tell. He placed the roasted mouse head in a matchbox :(. I am serious, he took it as a joke and took it to the local grocery store chain, where he purchased the peanuts. We were grossed out, it was the talk of the office. The grocery managers did not take our friend seriously, either. I will never buy that company's brand of peanuts, because they did not seem to care about cleanliness, and the health of consumers.. I would have been all over that also, because of sanitation and health problems associated with rodents mixing in with our food at the processing level. I guess it is all on how you handle the situation, photos, documentation, contacting the proper authorities. Contact consumer advocates, not for a lawsuit if it can be avoided, but how will this breach of cleanliness be corrected and remedied. How will the food manufacturer treat the issue of cleanliness in food handling so this does not happen again to anyone so no one suffers health problems or become ill from filthy food manufacturing and processing.

They did not sound concerned at all but needed to have the fingernail for quality control. I was sick as well. Sorry for you...Good luck getting anything done about it. Scary isnt it?

One time at Olive Garden, I found a piece of a plasic bag in my pasta (probably some sort of bag that they get their pasta in). The manager came to us and said my meal and everyone at my tables meal was free, and we all got dessert on them! That's what I call customer service!!

I mean IN the pizza, under the cheese and toppings, not on top. It was large too. I almost choked on it. Same thing, they sent coupons which I gave away and I've never purchased any of their products since.

I tried posting a comment to this thread yesterday about an experience I had with buying hamburger buns that contained a live worm and maybe it's because I gave the name of the company which is very well known that it didn't get posted. I tried twice. Just wanted to see if this shows up.

I know that all of the Milky way bars are not defected but you still have the memory of biting into that particular candy bar and finding a tooth...ew... - Steven Ruza
