Despite its bad reputation, fast food can actually save your life.
Wendy's employees in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, say a man came into the restaurant with his two sons on Dec. 27 and passed out.
"I looked down the line this way to make sure everything was okay and I heard a thud," manager John Meade told Cleveland's Fox 8 News. "By the time I turned around, he was on the floor."
Meade found the man bleeding on the floor when he instructed the staff to call 911 and take the man's two young sons to the office in the back of the restaurant. Then, Meade and another employee, John Mattice, took action of their own.
"I checked him for a pulse and everything and he had nothing, no vital signs at all," said Mattice.
Quick on their feet, Meade and Mattice performed chest compressions on the passed-out man until the Middleburg Heights Fire Department arrived and took the man to nearby Southwest General Hospital.
The customer's identity nor the reason he passed out has not been released, but he is expected to fully recover.

I stopped my OTR rig to render assistance to a woman who hit another OTR rig. She was bleeding from the forehead. I administered first aid until a Dr. showed up. My dispatcher, and the boss were not happy with me. They said the company might've been sued, and if I ever run across another situation like this, let the person bleed to death. (Bull crap)
Such caring individuals.

1-04-2010 @7:47PM Walter said... Your only covered by the good Samaritan Act if you act within what you have been trained in. if say you are first aid certified and you preform CPR you are NOT covered since you stepped out of what you are certified in, or vice versa, same going for basic first aid and advanced first aid. This is a primary reason I am going for my Wilderness EMT as it covers all areas you may experiace though it is hard to maintain the cert.

ALL companies should pay to have the Red Cross or another company (check with the local fire departments also) come and provide BASIC FIRST AID AND CPR COURSE!! The posters that are provided for CPR are all well and good but nothing works as well as practice. AGAIN..congrats to the employees. Also well done for the smarts to move the injured persons small children to the back area to help mitigate their trama...

IF you reread the story the man was standing in liune so he hadn't even gotten any food yet. The fact that his heart was not beating and they had to give him chest compressions it would lead me to believe it was a heart related incident.

Statistics show that people who have to resort to adminstering CPR are doing so on a loved one.......not a stranger on the street. Be ready and prepared should a loved one need emergency care. The few minutes before an ambulance arrives can be a matter of life or death. PLEASE be prepared! I can't stress this enough!
