Slashfood Gets a Makeover

new slashfood redesignThe new Slashfood.

Feast your eyes on the fresh new look of the most widely read food blog in the nation.

We know you rely on Slashfood for breaking food news, smart takes on food trends, recipes, reviews and chef interviews you won't find anywhere else.

And now, after our first ever redesign of this blog (launched in July 2005), you can easily find your favorite content. The new look brings even more luscious food photography to the table and and lets us show off contributions from some of the most exciting, opinionated writers in the business.

As the new executive editor of AOL Food and Slashfood, I could not be more excited to come on board during this particular time in Slashfood's history. The possibilities are endless, and we want to know what you'd like to see and what you think of our new look.

The articles should speak for themselves, who needs all the retweet/facebook/myspace/etc thingies? The "tag" and "file under" text shouldn't be as prominent/distracting as they are now. And why do the editors need a picture that big, or of any size for that matter? And why so little articles per page?

I liked the "amateurish" look of the old site, it gives a reliable feel to the material posted. Oh well.. it's still about the articles, and I expect they stay the great quality read they've usually been.

Bring back the old design, at least as an option for those of us who hate the new one.
