Keep Peeled Potatoes From Turning Brown - Tip of the Day

Whether for mashed potatoes or latkes, keep peeled potatoes from turning brown with these easy tips.

Cold weather cuisine means potatoes and lots of them. While discolored potatoes aren't harmful to eat, no one wants to serve aesthetically unpleasing dishes to family and friends during a big holiday meal.

In order to keep peeled potatoes from becoming brown, forget the lemon juice method. Instead, submerge them in cold water.

By doing this, you can save some time during the stressful holiday meal prep and peel the potatoes the night before. Just store them in water in a cool place (not the refrigerator) overnight. If the water starts to get warm, add some ice cubes to ensure the potatoes stay chilly and to prevent oxidation.
