Black Friday Wine Picks

Devotion like this deserves a glass of wine. Photo: Croixboy, Flickr.

That whole shop-til-you-drop mania is best concluded, we feel, with a glass of wine. After fighting mall crowds and boutique divas, you'll need to wind down properly -- and pulling through a fast-food restaurant's drive-thru is not exactly what we have in mind.

Uncork or uncap one of these three wines once you're back home without busting your budget.

Banfi Rosa Regale: This is a fabulous red bubbly for around $12 (375 milliliters). Didn't score a deal on Italian leather shoes? Don't worry. You can sip this Strevi, Italy-produced sweetie -- raspberry notes and a rose-petals nose -- all night. This wine's got legs. (Tip: Call your man from the mall's parking garage and tell him to put this in the fridge next to all the Thanksgiving Day leftovers.)

2008 Fecovita Broke Ass Red Wine: For just $5 a bottle, this Mendoza, Argentina, wine (50 percent Malbec and 50 percent Syrah) is not only easy spending but is also easy drinking. A smoky, earthy and tobacco nose gives way to a full body, filled with plum, blackberry and licorice notes, and culminates in a soft, lingering finish.

2000 Il Leopardo L'Uvaggio di Giacomo: This Lodi, Calif., wine ($20, which is, of course, a swell price for a 9-year-old wine) is made from a grape called Nebbiolo made famous in Piedmont, Italy, and typically used in Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The first time we tried this, our eyes bugged out: fruit-forward and expressive raspberry flavor. But it's the luscious notes and tannins in this wine that will make you forget you got to Best Buy too late to score the early-bird deals on electronics.
