Martha Stewart Weighs In on Rachael Ray

Martha Stewart draws a stark contrast between her kitchen skills and those of Rachael Ray and surprisingly, Ray completely agrees.

Speaking with ABC's "Nightline" in an interview to air Thursday night, Stewart says what Ray does isn't good enough for her.

"To me she professed that she cannot bake," Stewart says of Ray. "She just did a new cookbook which is just a re-edit of a lot of her old recipes, and that's not good enough for me. I really want to write a book that is a unique and lasting thing -- something that will fulfill a need in someone's library. So she's different, she's more of an entertainer than she is -- with a bubbly personality -- than she is a teacher like me. That's not what she's professing to be."

When asked about Stewart's comments, Ray says "It's true. It's 100 percent true," but adds the criticism doesn't upset her.

"Why would it make me mad?" Ray says. "When it comes to producing a beautiful, perfect, high quality meal, I'd rather eat Martha's than mine too."

Who do you like better? Martha or Rachael? Spill it in the comments.

Actually, it's not surprising if you follow Ray at all, which I thought Slashfood did. She's never said she's better than Martha. (Did you even read the text of the stuff you're quoting?)

Totally a non issue. And the Twitter headline of "slams" please ... stop making news where it doesn't exist. http://twitter.com/Hungry_Bride/status/5867385291

Come to think of it, Ray is about 100x more irritating too.

The only thing I ever got from her show, is roasted veggies. Now, Martha has real recipes and they taste good. I would rather spend a few minutes more, and enjoy what I cooked. Take them both off the air, please!

But I can do Ray's. I think the problem is the audience of the two. One is richy and her audience generally are to. And Ray is more middle class and not so richy. She is more down to earth than Stewart is.

I live in Maine and she has a coastal home here and treats the natives like second class citizens. You put your pants on one leg at a time just like we do, Martha! At least Rachael Ray is down to earth (at least she seems to be) in spite of her really irritating personality. And Rachael's recipes can be prepared in 30 minutes which is a reality for busy working women. Who has time to spend hours cooking a meal accoding to Martha Stewart's standards? What normal person would be allowed to return to TV and her empire after spending time in prison? No one that I know! Get off the air Martha and come down off your high horse!

She makes meals the way I would make them; like the ones in the church cook book. We don't need "fancy" for our meals, just good tasting food. Martha Stewart has a dark side that scares me.

Rachael Ray has always stated she is not a chef, never attended school and was taught to cook by her mom - she has never stated she was a "crafter" like Martha Stewart - so actually comparing those two is like comparing apples and oranges - with one exception - Rachael has never served time in jail for SEC insider trading violations, and "that's a good thing!". But regardless, I am like Rachael, more fun, laughs alot and loves to have family and friends over to have fun, not sit prim and proper at a table afraid to mess something up. I would love to have Rachael come to my house and cook with me!

Rachel has admitted many times that she is not an "Iron Chef." She is an individual at home in a deli, drive-ins, and dives where she simply turn out "good eats."
