Martha Stewart and Meredith Vieira in Apple Pie Bake-off

Talk about a Thanksgiving throwdown.

While there was no Bobby Flay, NBC's Meredith Vieira challenged celebrity domestic goddess Martha Stewart and her "Mile High Apple Pie" to an apple pie bake-off Wednesday morning on "The Today Show."

There were the obvious differences: Martha Stewart made her own pie crust while Meredith opted for a Flako pre-made version. Martha included lemon in her mile-high pie while Meredith did not. Meredith uses apple pie spice, Martha utilizes cinnamon.

One thing is similarly evident though between the rolling of the eyes and playful taunts, these two ladies were in it to win it.

Find out who won the Martha vs. Meredith apple pie bake-off and get the recipes after the jump.

If Matt's face after the taste test is any indication of the winner, Meredith seems to have taken the cake ... er ... pie.

Instead, and perhaps in fear of a Martha-turned-Linda Blair episode on live morning television, Lauer takes the diplomatic route.

"It's a toss up!" he declares as he runs away (perhaps into Bon Jovi's awaiting embrace). Ultimately, he says if you want a tarter pie, go with Martha. For a sweeter version, go with Meredith.

Martha attempts a last jab, "If you want a more impressive pie," as she Vanna-White's her mile-high creation, only prompting Vieira to threaten the old pie-in-the-face trick.

See, it's all in good fun!

I thought morning shows were supposed to be "Light, and Fun", NOT cut-throat and rude!? I was expecting Martha to be the aggressor. Wow, I hope Meredith wakes up on the right side of bed for tomorrows show. TOO MUCH ATTITUDE for morning T.V.

Add into your apples one pear-a sweet ripe pear adds natural flavor kicking up those apples...Martha's pie recipe is as old fashioned as can be, but make a mixture of your sugar and cinnamon-perhaps a tad of allspice and pinch of nutmeg-if using lemon or lime go easy or a bitter flavor can result. Once your top crust is one cut slits then coat with egg and water or egg and milk or cold water and egg white mixture. Oh yes, prior to placing top crust do dot entire mixture of pear and apples with real butter. Yummers!

She is rude to her like I've never seen Meredith conduct herself. What is it? Everyone - including Meredith herself teases about her lack of culinary skills. Martha is very rigid - that's Martha. I can't believe this contention hasn't been examined in the tabloids. Yet.

I saw the same thing on her talk show when she had an episode about cupcakes. This girl from a cupcake shop in DC was so polite and thankful to be on the show, and Martha kept on criticizing and questioning her technique in the same catty manner. Why so competitive, Martha?

On the other hand I liked Meredith when the View first started (before its decent into hell). Since she has been on Today, I have really enjoyed her. However, the snarks and jabs between her and Matt are almost painful to watch. They don't sound like playful exchanges at all. It comes across to me that these two really don't like each other. Does anyone else feel this or maybe even has heard about problems between the two? I like both of them and hope all is well.

Martha didn't seem to get the joke (if it was one). If I were Martha, I would suggest a good stool softener for Meredith... maybe that will make her a little perkier in the morning. At least both pies looked yummy.
