Thanksgiving Recipes - Spinach-Green-Bean Casserole

Go green...er! Green bean casserole gets an extra shade of green when chopped spinach is added to the time-honored casserole.

Spinach-Green-Bean Casserole
Provided by Grocery Shopping Network

1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach
1 9-ounce package frozen French-style green beans
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp margarine or butter
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
3/4 cup milk
1/2 of a 3-ounce package cream cheese
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp margarine or butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Thaw spinach and beans; drain well. Cook onion and garlic in 1 tbsp margarine till tender. Stir in flour, nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and dash pepper. Add milk. Cook and stir till bubbly. Stir in cream cheese till melted. Stir in spinach and beans. Transfer to a 1-quart casserole. Bake, covered, in a 350 oven for 30 minutes; stir.

Meanwhile, combine bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and the melted margarine. Sprinkle crumbs over casserole. Bake, uncovered, 10 to 15 minutes more or till heated through.
