Tip of the Day - Peeling Ginger

With its knobby texture, ginger root is easier to tackle with a spoon than a knife.

The twisted and knotted ginger root may look tricky to peel, but the skin actually comes off quite easily.

Using a vegetable peeler or paring knife certainly gets the job done. However, both methods waste more of the fragrant root and increase the likelihood of a kitchen mishap.

Instead, scrape off the skin with the edge of a spoon. This method makes it easier to maneuver around the nubs and get into the crannies of the ginger -- thus leaving more of the juicy, spicy root intact.
