Mice Photographed in Window at Junior's Cheesecake

Mice love cheese, no matter what its form.

The Brooklyn, N.Y., cheesecake institution Junior's, founded in downtown Brooklyn in 1950, prides itself as "New York's Best Cheesecake," but it's now scrambling to clean up its reputation after photographs posted on the Internet over the weekend show some rodents enjoying a snack in the bakery's window display.

"This has been my family's lifework for 60 years and we have always been committed to ensuring the healthiest environment for our customers," owner Alan Rosen said in a statement issued to Slashfood. "As soon as this alleged isolated incident was brought to our attention on Sunday, we took immediate action to determine the cause. It was addressed professionally, and I can assure you the problem is being fully remediated."

Junior's distributes their famed dessert outside of New York, but those cheesecakes are made and stored in a factory in Queens and not from the Brooklyn branch.

The photographer, under the username Rachel Rae, added two cents to the situation on the message board. "So, unless you like extra chocolate sprinkles on your strawberry cheese cake I would steer clear."
