Paula Deen Freaked by 'Today Show' Staffer
by Slashfood Editor, Posted Oct 12th 2009 @ 2:30PM
Paula Deen had a bit of a freak out last week on the set of the "Today Show" after an NBC staffer accidentally walked into the shot and hid behind a kitchen island.
"Oh my goodness, can you all see? What is he doing in here? Does he work here?" Deen asked Al Roker as she prepared her Nutty Orange Coffee Cake to promote the New York City Wine & Food Festival. "He doesn't have a gun does he? Should we pull out our knives?"
Roker laughed along with Deen, although it became a bit awkward after he asked her what she was making.
"Nervous. That's what we're making -- nerves, nervous," she said. "Is he from this country?"
But all became hunky-dory once more when Deen learned the man did indeed work for NBC.
"Oh so you do work here, well here," Deen said as she handed him a slice of cake.

She makes comfort food for people who enjoy it. You don't have to eat it. No one will be forcing you to do so. You don't have to feed it to your kids. It isn't Paula Deen who makes our kids fat so quit passing the responsibility on to someone else and leave her the hell alone.

You see so many videos on YouTube of newscasters freaking out on their staff for tiny slip-ups, This was clearly a big no-no, but they laughed it off. I wish more people could learn to find the fun in mistakes like that. Kudos.

you had read and comprehended the entire story, you would have known
it was apparently a staffer! Good heavens, THAT little tidbit was right there in the title of this piece!

I'm from Florida and all my relatives from south Georgia, have exactly the same accent if not worse, and they are not fake! It all depends on your parents and where their from, you can be from Alabama, but if your parents are from Maine your not gonna have the same accent.. Give me a Break... God Bless you Paula! People like Paula Prevail... not the morons that write crap about her...

She made light of the situation, big freaking deal! I'm amazed at the childishness of some adults in this world....A beautiful woman can't make a joke without it being dissected and picked apart until it becomes this huge issue when the fact remains it WAS and IS JUST A FREAKING JOKE!!!!

In todays ideas women aren't suppose to get ahead on their own because they make men look bad. I WISH I had a gimick that would sell, I would tell all you critical people to kiss my ass. Are you making the money that she is? Maybe that is your problem. Some overweigh person can make more money than you. Having good looks is not all it's cracked up to be. Try to enjoy the inner person, you may be surprised what you find. If you can't do that then shut the hell up.

I would be mad as heck to have some jerk horn in on my spot. I think Paula handled herself with class. I think Barbara Walters was also a jerk and was discriminating against Paula Deen. She wouldn't do that to say Tyler Florence or Wolfgang Puck.

The hick-ish routine is over the top - so tiresome, folks in Savannah must cringe when she says, "I'm from Savannah Georgia, y'all". She may be a good cook with a Southern accent but she's no Southern belle.

Freaking out would be if someone threw the knife at the person after being told a stranger running on set & hiding didn't work there. The media needs to get a grip! In regards to the Letterman "scandal", give it a rest. Who cares, or should care other than the actual parties involved? Makes great foder to sell publications, sad as that is that's all it is. People are dying & homeless all over the world, but we are obsessed with who sleeps with who. Sometimes things are just what they appear, poor judgement & sour grapes.

For the first time since being on TV you really showed just what's on the inside of you and this time it wasn't room temperature like the butter you use in many of your receipes. What you served up with that statement was at the boiling point of indescretion!
