What do you do when you and your celebrity chef husband-to-be call it quits just days before your extravagant wedding at an upscale New York City hotel?

If you're Erica Wang, the recently ex-ed fiancee of Todd English, you put on a chic black dress and party it up with your family and friends, the New York Post reports. English is the previously married 48-year-old owner of the Olives restaurants and star of season three of the reality-TV show "Top Chef."

Wang and English called off the wedding days before it was to take place at the St. Regis Hotel, and since several guests had already made the trip to New York for the event -- which gossip blog Gawker reports English had already paid for -- the would-be bride and "about 150 of Wang's closest friends and family packed into the posh party space 20 stories above Fifth Avenue," the Post reported.

"Everybody is having a fantastic time," a source told the Post. "People are dancing their butts off."

"It's just so unfortunate, but we came to support her," an elderly man wearing a tux told the Post. A Gawker source said that English left Wang.

Guests at the St. Regis dined on Peking duck, chilled clams and a five-course dinner, a source told the Post.

A registry at Tiffany and Co. lists the couple's wedding date as June 1, 2009. Among the items on their wish list are a mantle clock for $1,750 and sterling silver salt and pepper shakers for $475.

While Wang and the guests partied in New York, English was in Florida, according to a tip sent to Gawker.

"No wedding took place this weekend," English said in a statement. "I appreciate your respect for my privacy in this difficult time."

English opened his first restaurant, Olives, in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood in 1989. English and Wang, a former employee of English's PBS show "Food Trip," were engaged in 2008.

NO, he wasn't the "star" of Top Chef Season 3! Where the hell did you get THAT idea? He might have been a guest judge, but lordy - the "star"? Sheesh. Come on. Not that hard to figure out he was NOT the star.

Todd English paid for the expense of her guests to come and stay for the wedding and they take advantage of his generosity, while he's in Florida recuperating from this disappointment. Fortunately, this wedding was called off, as this money hungry, greedy woman would've destroyed him once she tied the knot. How gracious for Todd English to not say other than it was both whom called off the wedding. Better to lose monies now, rather than once the marriage took place and may have dissolved early on and he would've had to pay dearly to this greedy money hungry monger.

She simply decided to do the right thing by the people from her side of the family who had already put out a lot of bucks to come to New York for her/their wedding! I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. And who's to say that he's in Florida licking his wounds? After all, he's the one who left Erica! In my eyes, the party was her way of moving past the humiliation HE poured out upon HER, so SHE is the wounded one here...NOT HIM. The money had already been spent and was, more than likely, not refundable. Where's the harm???

The hotel would just have pocked the money had the event been completely cancelled, so why not have a party. This way the chefs, waiters, the setup and break down crew and the cleaner all got a pay check. Besides by the time the wedding was cancelled guests had already paid for air line tickets and hotels. What makes Erica Wang money hungry in this situation? I am sure it was a difficult situation for both.

She spent took his credit card when they had a fight and went to Gucci to the tune of over $35,000, she was trying to land a rich, famous guy. It's totally inappropriate to have a party when your wedding is called off. She couldn't have been too heartbroken, right? Plus, his kids hated her. It never would have worked and he already lost a fortune to his first wife.

Joseph, you sound like you are a racist, what makes you think that erica wang isn't american, just because she's asian doesn't mean she does not qualify to be an american. anyways, who are you to judge. if you meant to say "american" as in "white american women", then just say so... if that is your choice of women, then you can do what you preach, you don't have to suggest it to other people. i'm sure they all have a mind of their own to choose whomever they want. go back to bed joseph and live in your own dream world!

He hurts and humiliates her in front of all her friends and family, she was totally devastated and speaks up for herself, now he wants to control, hurt and humiliate her MORE?! Hope she stays far away from him - he sounds like he may be very toxic, a user, a hateful narcissist. I bet he may have a long history of using, dumping and hurting people. Maybe they'll be available to testify on her behalf. I would if I were they - in a nanosecond! Come on down - the line forms on the right.
