Gordon Ramsay has struck a deal to star in a stop-motion series produced by Toronto-based Cuppa Coffee Studios, the group behind MTV's "Celebrity Deathmatch" and Nick at Nite's "Glenn Martin, DDS," Variety reports.
"Gordon Ramsay, at Your Service" will feature the host of FOX's "Hell's Kitchen" cooking competition traveling the world in a "'MacGyver' meets 'A-Team'" food-inspired comedy, Cuppa Coffee's Adam Shaheen told Slashfood.
Find out why Ramsay "makes a good-looking puppet" after the jump.
Shaheen said the idea for the show came to him after running into Ramsay in Los Angeles.
"He just makes a very good looking puppet," Shaheen said. "His personalty goes far beyond what we all know and see, beyond his cooking series."
Ramsay is renowned for his controversial comments. This summer he apologized for a sexist rant aimed at an Australian newscaster.
The sitcom, targeted to the 16- to 35-year-old crowd, has Ramsay playing the part of Gordon Ramsay, but "playing the part of someone else, meaning that he has this whole fictitious life," Shaheen said. Ramsay's character will have to solve problems as his fictitious self.
"It always kicks off with a food emergency somewhere in the world," he said. "It's very much a comedy that happens to be starring Gordon Ramsay. It isn't an expose. ... it's not about the art of cooking and how to cook an omelet or beef Wellington. It's not one of those shows."
In October, Shaheen will shop the show around to networks at the Mipcom, an international television conference in Cannes, France. "Obviously he is a well known fellow, so people are naturally interested."
If the show is picked up, Shaheen said "At Your Service" could be on the air in late 2010.
