But Nation's Restaurant News reports that the $1 promotion is just the fast-food giant's latest attempt to boost sales following a 4.5-percent drop in the last quarter.
According to Burger King's senior vice president of global business intelligence and strategy, Mike Kappitt, recent testing deemed the promotion successful.
"Positive sales results and strong consumer demand for our $1 quarter-pound Double Cheeseburger prove this strategy delivers a superior sandwich at an exceptional value," Kappitt told Nation's Restaurant News.

It sounds like desperation for Burger King to try to compete against McDonald's, Wendy's, the lighter sandwich fare at Subway and the popular grilled chicken at KFC. You don't cheapen yourself to extremes with cutting it down to $1 like that!

Down the street, McDonalds sells its "McDouble" for $1.00; 2 meat patties + 1 slice of cheese. To choose between the two is a "no brainer". Though I like the taste of BK over McD's, $1.19 is not enough to make up the gap. If BK makes the double cheeseburger a standard on its menu, the folks at McD's will miss me for sure.

One day they also sold 2 regular hamburgers for $4.00. Have to pay extra for cheese though. we have some good deals already from them. McDonalds $1 burger is also being offered out here. Have to pay extra for cheese though.

The meat costs them maybe $1.50/lb tops, so 25% of that gives a cost of 37.5 cents per each, add 5 cents for the bun and another 5 cents for the other stuff. labor at another 5 cents per. Total cost tops 52.5 cents per each--for a profit of 47.5 cents per. Then add in the $1 for maybe 10 cents cost of the soda ( or less if you are lame enough to add ice)you may buy to wash it down. So the you spend $2 and their profit is something like $1.37 per transaction.
That is a profit % of 68.5--not too bad the way I calculate it

The McDonalds DBL cheeseburger rules! But now I'm finally over it as fast food has taken the back seat for me! Come on people it's the 21st century the meats gonna start becoming organic. Enough with all of those hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics clogging up your arteries. Watch as all of these fast food giants start putting organic burgers on their menus! It's all about healthy eating.

BK is the "have it your way" fast food restaurant but they never get the special orders right. They park you to make their drive thru times (even if you're the only person in line.) They just suck!!!

The last few times I ate one, the pattie was so thin, that I could hardly taste the meat. I've had $1 value burgers fill me up more than the recent version of the Whopper.
The fired at BK have sucked for over a decade. Their bacon is the worst in all of fast food, and shouldn't even be considered as such. Their tea is terrible! I drink tea with no sugar, so I can really get a good idea of how good one's tea is. The suppliers of BK's tea deserve an Epic Fail Award.
I'll also chime in, and say the the latest BK commercials are pathetic. I don't see how anyone can like that creepy bastard they pass off as Magic Burger King. you have to be short on brain cells to like that guy.

COVER THOSE UNWASHED HANDS WHEN MAKING SANDWICHES.
lOOKS MORE SANITARY AND THE COST WOULD BE VERY
LITTLE COMPARED TO THE APEAL IT WOULD MAKE ON BK

Why waste your typing skills on such a stupid complaint. Yeah " No cheese please" is so hard to say. Or " Cheese Please". Oh yeah I can see where that would be difficult, "Moron".
