Based on the status updates of food lovers all over Facebook, it seems many were lucky enough to get their hands on Honeycrisps over the weekend, including blogger Happy in Bag who managed to hold off biting into this one long enough to snap a picture.

9-25-2009 @11:33AM Leah said... The people that developed the Honeycrisp, at the University of Minnesota, have a new apple that should be available in the next couple of years called the Sweetango. We have it (in a limited manner) here in MN and it's quite delicious. They've put the Honeycrisp and Zestar together for a sweet, crisp apple. :-D

9-27-2009 @7:24PM thefishie said... Just found them last week here in Arkansas. I've almost quit buying apples for out-of-hand eating until Honeycrisp season comes around. They're that much better. The closest thing I've found are Jazz apples which I think are out of New Zealand.
