It might seem like a time-saver, but don't turn that tap to hot when prepping to boil and mash potatoes.
Starting off with cold water is essential when aiming to whip up the perfect mashed potatoes. If you throw them into hot or boiling water from the get-go, the outside of the vegetable will cook first, leaving the inside underdone, or what
TipNut calls floating "chunks of mush." Let the temperature of the water rise with the potatoes and you'll be one step closer to creamy mashed potato perfection.
