Storing Cut Fennel - Tip of the Day

Fennel needs more than just an airtight container if you want it to last once its been cut.

Fennel bulbs have some heft, so it's easy to have some left over after prepping a meal. Rather than just throwing the remnants in a container in the fridge, give the bulbs a little extra love to get the most out of your fennel leftovers. The easiest tip comes from BBC's Good Food, which suggests wrapping the fennel in a damp paper towel, throwing it in a perforated bag and storing in the fridge for up to three days.

If three days is not enough, you can blanch, cold-bath and freeze cut bulbs as Garden Guides suggests. Just keep in mind that fresh always tastes best!
