Homemade Cherry Coke - Tip of the Day

Depending on where you're located, finding Cherry Coke or other specialty soda flavors can be a pain. Rather than go without, why not try going old school?

Long before cherry was part of the secret formula, it was poured in fountain-style -- a nice syrupy dollop to flavor the sparkling cola. So take a cue from the old fountain shops and add the tasty syrup yourself. All you need to do is grab a flavored syrup from your favorite coffee shop, and pour it into your cola to taste.

Torani, for example, has flavors such as blackberry, blueberry, huckleberry, guava and classic cherry. Make up a whole new flavor combination, or stick with a tried-and-true concoction. Either way, that cola -- diet or regular -- is sure to get a blast of delicious fruit.

If you're feeling really experimental, give other sodas the mad science treatment. Cherry root beer, anyone?
