The New York Times reports that Paula Deen's QVC-exclusive line of cast iron cookware is being voluntarily recalled after consumer complaints of pans shattering and cracking during heating. Meyer Trading Corporation, the manufacturer of the pans, alerted the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of the issue in July, prompting QVC's recall letters to purchasers in August.
The CPSC will announce the recall on its Web site this coming Monday. Consumers may remain confident that Deen's "Butt Massage" flavoring rub is still safe for consumption.

Her accent is toooooo over the top and irritating as the devil. The rest of the family do not have that accent. I am not surprised about the pots--she is selling everything from magazines to hams. She can't have time to check things out for herself.

When I worked in a bakery, we were inspected regularly by the state and the county health depts. If they had caught us doing that, there would have been a price to pay both in sanitation grade which ruins the rep of the establishment and a monetary fine. I really enjoyed Paula at first but she's carried the "simple lil ole Southern gal" bit too far. As a lifetime Southerner with Georgia roots, I know what I'm talking about. That being said, I'd still like to visit her restaurant and see one of her shows. I was very disappointed in her book. She should have left a lot out.

It may be from France but at least it's not made in China like so many things are. Honestly I don't know of any cookware that's made here in US. Is All Clad made here???

My bad experience was with a packaged dinner item under her Smithfield brand name that was just NASTY-meatloaf or Salisbury steak or something like that. I reported it and of course I got the "something must be wrong at quality control" two-step and a couple of coupons to shut me up. I am less shocked about the pan problem than I am she didn't taste-test the food/recipe herself if her name is endorsing it on the package. Now, fortunately I know the hams, sausages and bacon tasted good before Paula ever got there.
I do like the woman, warts and all, and I'm disappointed that she doesn't try to control her image/branding a little better.

WALMART WAS STILL SELLING HER CAST IRON COOKWARE BUT IT WAS ON SELL. LOL IF YOUR GOING TO PUT YOUR NAME ON SOMETHING CHECK IT OUT FIRST. CAUSE THERE IS ALOT OF WOMEN MAD AS HELL ABOUT YOUR COOKWARE. AND YES I COULD HAVE RETURN IT. BUT THE FIRST ORDER ARRIVED BENT UP. SHIPPED IT BACK AND WHEN I GOT THE 2ND SET MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY 2 DAYS LATER AND I HAD ALOT OF THINGS TO DO OTHER THAN SHIPPING THIS BACK. PAID MORE FOR BUYING FROM FOOD NETWORK THAN I WOULD FROM WALMART.AND WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY SHIPPING CHARGES EITHER. BUT UNTIL SHE MAKES A BETTER PRODUCE I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANYMORE. I REALLY LIKE HER TOO. HER FOOD IS EASY TO COOK. LOVE THE PEACH COBBLE RECEIPT AND ALOT OF OTHERS TOO. WISHED THESE COOKS ON THE FOOD NETWORK WOULD LEARN MORE ABOUT GERMANY AND PERU MEALS. SPESEBRATEN IS ONE THING I WOULD LOVE THE RECEIPT . THERE IS A GUEST HOUSE IN IDAR-OBERSTIEN THAT MADE IT FAMOUS AND BEEN TRYING FOR OVER 20 YEARS TO FIND OUT HOW TO DO IT.

I feel someone that cooks for a living and has a show should at least give her viewers a product that she herself backs up. She owes at least that much to her fans. It's simple greed. http"//beyondbitch.wordpress.com

They clean up easy enough meaning everything that stuck to the bottom of the pan comes off with just a little effort but I can't seem to find a food that won't stick making it hard to turn or flip. I called the consumer hot line and was told to add a drop of oil. I can do that but I thought non stick meant non stick, not "lubricate before use". Does anyone else have a problem like that?
