One-Minute Apple Pie
Talk about a quickfire challenge!
Vimeo user Animi recently posted this short stop-motion movie on making an apple pie. The video certainly is fun, set to the music of Dave Brubeck. But what we found curious was the method for making pie crust.
Do you make a cylinder of dough to create the sides of your pie dough? Let us know in the comments below.

I don't think I have ever seen warm/room temperature butter used while making a pie dough. I come from the school of chilled butter (cubed) and ice water. Apparently, Animi made it work with room temperature…where is my pie pan at?
I don't fully use the cylinder technique, but I do trim the excess off the edges and roll it into a long strand of dough that I use the re-enforce the side/bottom junction so that slices of pie can be self supporting. Nothing worse than a slice of pumpkin pie that you can't pick up and eat without a plate.
I've never seen a pie crust form itself with the help of guiding hands and crawl into a bowl before! Very nice! I have never used a cylinder of dough, although I think I'll try it. It looked to me like the woman was cooking the apples on the stove. Seems like that might be a good idea if one were in a hurry. Do any of you do that? Have any of you tried this pie? I'd love to know the results.
