Lance Inc. (of snack food fame) purchased Archway in December of last year, getting the Archway factory in Ashland, Ohio, back up and running as quickly as possible, an Archway spokeswoman tells Slashfood. Lance has since rehired most of its former employees and is in the process of rejuvenating the iconic brand, while staying true to the original recipes.
Currently, Archway is manufacturing more than 20 varieties of their everyday cookie selection (including the Windmill, a milk and cookie break staple) and will be relaunching their famous holiday cookies in November, for the first time in two years. Let the nostalgic dunking resume!

have tea parties and eat these. We didn't realize the company was having trouble but went on a shopping spree to try to find our favorite cookie over the holidays and could not find them. She begged me to find some and I have to this day been unable to get any for her. So I hope they hurry iup and get them back on the shelves. We resorted to tiny pretzels for our tea dates but they don't compare to the windmill cookies. I used to eat this cookie with my grandma. We have to keep tradition.

Yum! Thanks for the news. Patricia

My daughter and I were just talking about Archway cookies the other day and how we thought they were supposed to come back after Lance bought the company but that we hadn't seen them yet. We're both glad to know they're finally on their way back!

Oh my. Salerno made the BEST butter cookies. Wasn't the box blue? I'd put a finger in the hole and try to eat all the way around wihtout it breaking. Wish I could remember their jingle....

Trader Joes also makes an excellent windmill cookie, but they're more expensive than Archway.
Didn't Van de Kamps also make an almond windmill cookie about thirty years ago? I'm almost certain they were the first windmill cookies I tasted.
Welcome back, Archway!

I adored the shape of the windmill cookies, but wasn't crazy about the taste. Throughout the years, seeing the windmills on the shelves brought back happy memories of my childhood. My Mom always kept them in the pantry for her morning "coffee klatch." Is there, now, such a thing as a coffee klatch? "Moms" getting together, after the children were sent off to school, to gossip about what was happening in the neighborhood.
